Slide 1: Since then on Raden Banterang changed the name of his kingdom into Banyuwangi.

So basically the name


“Banyuwangi” came from the river which became clear and fragrant. “Banyu” means water and “Wangi” means
fragrance. So the lesson we can learn from this legendary folklore is don’t make decisions when you're in an
emotional condition.

Besides the change of name of the kingdom, the capital city and the regency also took its name from it. Let’s take a
look

Slide 2: Banyuwangi regency is located in East Java, more specifically in the easternmost part of Java.

Slide 3: When we zoom in, this is the map of the regency. As you can see, Banyuwangi is just across Bali Island. The
capital city coloured in red is called Banyuwangi.

 By Plane: Wings Air has one daily flight from Surabaya (Rp 300,000 for 50 mins) and Bali (Rp 250,000 for
30 mins) to Blimbingsari Airport.
 By Train: From Surabaya to Banyuwangi. Prices from Rp 100,000 to Rp 200,000
 By Bus: The main bus terminal is Sri Tanjung. Price around Rp 20,000
 By Ferry: Ferries run from Gilimanuk in Bali to Ketapang every 30 mins, operated 24 hours a day. The
journey takes about 45 minutes, although loading and unloading can take much longer. Price Rp 8,000 for
each passenger.

 Yellow-coloured bemos and shuttle buses (from Ketapang ferry terminal to Sri Tanjung bus terminal)
 Becaks and horse carts are available in town
 Hire private jeeps with a driver, which is commonly used to go to the Ijen Crater

 Red Island: This site is called so because the colour of the soil and sand are reddish. The beach mostly
attracts surfers, but it has also become a family holiday attraction.
