1. What are the reasons behind the lack of seafarers despite the nowadays’ demands?

Kindly name 5 main reasons affecting crewing market in 21st century.


1) Non-Competitive salaries 2) Large offers from the Asian market

4) Despite the "Green Corridor", problems with obtaining visas; respectively
letters of guarantee, OKTB

2. -Following your previous answers kindly describe how those reasons affiliate and
affect seafarers’ availability.
Due to economy and large offers from the Asian market (Philippines/India)
shipowners/Managers are trying to keep the level of salaries low, which is non-
competitive for Georgian seafarers. In it’s turn, due to the political situation
some nationalities are employed hardly (Russians/Ukrainians) and demand on
Georgian Market becomes higher.

3. What type of challenges does a seaman from your country faces in 21 st century?
Due to absence of some diplomatic corps/representations in Georgia we are
pinned to “nearby” countries, which is costly and long

4. Do women from your country choose this profession and the career at sea? From your
point of view, please describe what are the reasons why they are fewer compared to
their male-colleagues and what difficulties they face on board a male-dominated
environment.
Nowadays in Georgia we have up to 5 women-seafarers (out of plenty men). The
mentality of the Caucasian region does not allow a woman to be alone with men
away from her family.
5. Do you believe that geopolitics influence shipping industry high/moderate or low.
Kindly give us, your in-dept opinion.
Definitely does! The strategies of the "Sea Powers" have become in fact the
programs of action of the opposing blocs
6. During the last 4-5 years, humanity crisis has an impact with many ways in our daily
life. Please advise if shipping industry field in your country has been affected
somehow from this crisis. In case of positive answer, kindly let us have a more
precisely description.
Technological challenges change the attitude of people to each other, societies to
the foundations of living together, and states to the value of the rights and
freedoms of citizens. These changes are often so dramatic that there is a desire to
herald the beginning of some new era in the existence of mankind. Either digital
or post-digital. But exactly the one where not a person, but a machine often
turns out to be the measure of all things.

7. What, in your opinion, are the ways for shipping companies to keep their talent pool
of seafarers while we are facing crew market volatility?
Constant competitiveness, i.e. creating better working conditions and offering of
good wages
8. On the contrary to the above question, please advise how a seafarer can act to ensure
that he is considered for reemployment and be a first option/top priority in his rank
for the owners.
