What is a FLUSH PLAN?

A flush plan is a
planned system that
helps in the
distribution of fluid
to or from the seal
chamber.
Why is it necessary?
The primary objective of this approach
is to ensure
adequate lubrication,
pressure,
temperature,
and solid management,
which collectively create an optimum
work environment for the seal.
Solid Management
Process fluids with high particulate
concentrations or slurries can impact the
centrifugal pump and mechanical seal
integrity.

It is important to perform
seal flushing more often
to remove any particles
that may accumulate in the
seal chamber, mechanical
seal parts, and seal faces.
Lubrication and pressure
If the process fluid that comes out of the pump's
discharge side is not delivered at the correct
pressure, which should be higher than the pump
chamber, the seal faces won't receive proper
lubrication and may get damaged by
particulates.
This can ultimately result in seal failure.
