DETAILING INSTRUCTION TO CLIENT FOR FREE ISSUE DRAWINGS:

Modelling considerations

1. While detailing Detailer should consider the standard width of grating according to the pitch.
Client can approach Oasis metal for the details of standard width based on specification and
pitch.
2. Span Direction should be shown all the time.
3. Consider structural support requirements at cut outs.
4. Gratings should be modelled with “Front” Direction and see other settings.

Required information on grating shop drawing

1. Correct view before start of detailing (always show Top side of grating in the visible view).
2. Section details and to show toe plate fixing dimensions.
3. Always show section marks like A-A, B-B in all views.
4. Dimensions overall (outer to outer) & Dimensions to Cuts & openings
5. All dimensions should be legible and clear for the fabricator to read.
6. Dimension line should not be closed with grating (line away factor in Tekla) and grating line
should be thicker than dimension line so it will be clear to read after printing.
7. Span Direction
8. Bill of materials in drawing
9. Bill of material reports – Assembly part list, Assembly List
10. Files required in dwg and pdf format. Also need DXF & NC files with proper view direction (i.e
top view only)
11. Specification of Grating should be mentioned in all drawings
Examples for best practices:
A) Plan view shown in assembly drawing should be the top of grating (i.e.: cross bar should be on
top) and should match with GA orientation. See the below sketches.
CORRECT VIEW: Always prefer to have section view as in below sketch (Sec A-A)
IN-CORRECT VIEW:
Plan view shown in assembly drawing is upside down which is incorrect detailing practice for grating
shop drawing. Fabricator will use the plan view for preparing the cut outs and if view is mirror, then
panel will be wrong. In the below view, the cross bars at bottom side.

B) Dimension line should not be closed with grating (line away factor in Tekla) and grating line
should be thicker than dimension line so it will be clear to read after printing.
C) Unwanted dimensions to be deleted while drawing editing and all required dimensions to be
provided.

D) Span direction should be mentioned in assembly drawing.

E) Drawing should be created/edited properly. See sample of bad practice of drawing editing.
