Meaning of language barrier to

communication
 The barrier which is created because of language are termed as
language barriers to communication.
 Language barriers primarily refer to the challenges faced by
people or groups speaking different languages and dialects. It also
includes misunderstandings and misinterpretations that come from
a lack of clarity of thought and speech.

1.Difference in Language

Language Barrier takes place when two persons do not

understand the language of communication.
➤ Interpretation of language personal experience may
communication breakdown. from cause Language barrier
may occur at the time of receiving or sending of the
message.
Example of Difference in Language

Suppose there are two persons from different country.

One of them is from south korea and another one is from

America .

If they meet regarding their business deal, they may not

communicate with each other due to language difference.
Here language becomes barrier to a a communication. In such
situation they have to use common language.
 2.Technical Jargon
Use technical words / terminology in everyday language
acts as a barrier to communication.
These jargon may not be understood by the receiver.

➤ For e.g.
1) If a doctor is using technical terms while talking with
patients, the patient may not understand the terms.

2) Using the word 'bug' while talking with the person who
does not have knowledge of computer field.
Pronunciations

If words are mispronounced, they may cause barrier to

communication.
The receiver may not understand what the sender is
communicating.

The pronunciation of the word content. Its meanings

change according the pronunciation. Two meanings are 1)
satisfied 2) ingredients
Pronunciation is the way words are spoken. Sometimes you
can tell where someone is from by their pronunciation of
certain words. Pronunciation is one of the hardest parts of
learning a new language.

4. Allusions

Certain words cultural connotations may result in

miscommunication. It is an indirect or passing reference.

Therefore allusions should not be used while communicating

with each other.

For e.g. 1) Calling someone an owl is a compliment in England

whereas a derogatory term in Hindi in India.
 a reference within a work to something famous outside it,
such as a well-known person, place, event, story, or work of
art, literature, music, pop culture.
