Title: Electrolysis
Date:
Aim: To investigate the electrolysis of Copper (II) sulphate using graphite electrodes.
Apparatus & Material: electrical wires, 0.5 M CuSO4 solution, pencils (graphite
electrodes), beaker, 6 V battery (DC),
Drawing: a 2-d drawing of the set-up of apparatus with labelling and a title at the bottom.
(Use the first diagram on page 187 Chemistry for CSEC for this without the bubbles
and the pink shade.)
Method:
1. The apparatus was set up as shown in the diagram above.
2. The observations seen was recorded.
3. A picture was taken of the positive electrode.
4. A diagram was drawn showing the electrolysis of CuSO4.
Results:
draw a diagram showing the electrolysis of CuSO4 while it was happening, with
correct labels and annotations where necessary. (Use the first diagram on pg. 187
for this)
The picture taken is to be printed in colour and paste in under the diagram to show
what was form at the positive electrode.
