The rotating air high pressure turbine (HPT) front seals (seal) P/N 1795M36P02 with
the following serial numbers: GWNDN949 through GWNSE969, and GWN000CE
through GWN0990L (except serial numbers GWN08ND7, GWN0923A, GWN0971E,
GWN098A1, GWN098W6, GWN098W8, GWN098WA, and GWN0990G), which
have been removed from their original HPT disk in the field and re-assembled to a
second HPT disk with a different serial number, are affected by this Service Bulletin.
B. Description

This Service Bulletin provides removal timing for the seal P/N 1795M36P02 with the
serial numbers listed in paragraph 1.A, Effectivity. Refer to Figure 1.

C. Compliance

Category 2

CFM recommends that you do this Service Bulletin before 6,500 cycles since
assembly to a second HPT disk, if the seal was re-assembled to a second HPT disk
with a different serial number.

If the condition has exceeded the 6,500 cycles since assembly to a second HPT
disk, then replace the seal before 500 cycles or within three months from the original
issue date of this Service Bulletin, whichever comes sooner.

NOTE 1: For seals that have exceeded the 6,500-cycle threshold, the removal should
be prioritized based on the cycles since the installation to the second HPT
disk.

Impact A

This recommendation is to address a condition that may affect Flight Safety.

NOTE 2: This Service Bulletin can be accomplished in shop.

This Service Bulletin is offered to improve the reliability or performance of your CFM
product, or to help prevent the occurrence of the event or condition described in this
Service Bulletin. If the operator elects not to participate in the bulletin, that decision
will be taken into consideration by CFM in evaluating future product performance
issues that may arise in the operator’s fleet.

D. Concurrent Requirements
None.

E. Reason

(1) Objective:
Replacement of the seal.

(2) Condition:

The seal may have a condition, generated during manufacturing, that could
affect the life of the seal if re-installed to a second HPT disk within the
operating life of the seal.

(3) Cause:

The affected seals have geometry variations on the air slot breakedges, which
can make the seal more sensitive to loading variations when assembled to a
second disk.

(4) Improvement:

None.

(5) Substantiation:

Substantiation is by analysis and fleet experience.

F. Approval
The technical content of this Service Bulletin is approved by the FAA and under the
Authority of DOA No. EASA.21J.086.
