B, Accomplishment General Caution 5B 10-18 page 4 of 19 ALL oll-lubricated main rotor head parts must be Kept under a cover of plastic foil during disassembly, to prevent from dirtying. The surface of removed or opened needle bearings must be completely preserved with oil. ‘The previously drained retor head ofl may be re-used for this purpose, thus drain the rotor head oil pan only. Repeat preservation of parts if removed or ‘openened longer than 22 Fours since disassembly ~ every 22 hours. If dictying of removed or opened parts was un= avoidable, the affected parts must be cleaned before installation. Cletning 8 accomplished With waterfree cleaning casoline, followed by $n ultrasonic cleaning beth, 1f available. (reaning of needle bearing? in ultrasonic cleaning bath is recommerded). Do not use trichlorethylene or perchlorethylene of any cleaning solvent containing hydrocarbon Chloride for cleaning or removal of preservative Oil, because these agents may not evaporate Completely (particularly behind rollers and Gage) and hydrocarbon chloride residue may produce corrosion. Continuously check ultrasonic cleaning bath for impurities. Renew the bath as soon as it begins to appear muddy. During cleaning procedure, wear clean Linen gloves to avoid corrosion due to perspiration Sf handes Place the cleaned rotor read parts on a drying rack until the cleaning agent has evaporated. In case the rotor head hes to be cleaned, place LE Into a drying oven at about 409C for a period of approx. 10 minutes. After drying, provide for intermediate pre- servation of cleaned neecle bearings.
