CAE Speaking Exam.

Part one, the introduction and interview;

Your speaking skills are assessed using the following criteria:


Did you use vocabulary appropriate for the task?
Did you use a range of vocabulary?
Is your grammar accurate?
Did you use more complex language?
Discourse Management means the way that you organise your speaking and link your ideas
together.
Did you order your ideas logically?
Did you use linkers to connect your ideas?
Did you hesitate a lot?
Was the interlocutor able to understand you without too much difficulty?
Did you use appropriate stress and intonation?

In part 1 of the Speaking test you will have to answer questions about yourself, such as your
work/studies,your future plans or what do you do in your spare time,etc. ( 1 min per candidate)

In part 2 of the Speaking test you will have to talk for one minute.
The interlocutor will give you three pictures and read out a task for you to complete, then ask
you two questions about the pictures.You can choose which pictures you want to talk about.
You are given one minuteto do both parts of the task
After you finish speaking, the interlocutor will ask your partner a question to which they should
give a short answer of around 30 seconds.
After this, your partner will be given photos to speak about while you listen.You should be
prepared to answer a question about your partner's photos.
Try to speak for the full minute if you can. Remember, this is your chance to show off your
vocabulary and fluency, and try not to worry about the time.
It is better to be stopped by the examiner than to run out of things to say after thirty seconds.

Part 2 the focus is on your fluency and ability to organise your thoughts and express yourself
clearly about a topic. You will also be assessed on your ability to make comparisons,
speculate about the situations in the pictures, and express your opinions.
