The girl refused to marry because of his disease. 4. Acutely pained, he wept on his mother’s bosom. 5. Married Assunta who gave him mental and moral support. 6. Assunta hated the girl who had deserted Salvatore, but he never spoke a harsh word against her or blamed her. 7. Lived happily- had two sons- was a loving husband and caring father. 8. A man with the quality of “goodness” which is the rarest and the loveliest that anyone can have.
