Primary sector
Primary sector extracts and uses the natural resource of the earth to
produce raw materials used by other businesses.

Examples:
 Fishing, Mining
 Farming, Forestry

Secondary sector
Secondary sector manufactures goods using the raw material provided by
the primary sector.

The secondary sector of the economy manufactures finished goods.

Examples:
 Construction
 Bread baking
 Car manufacturing
Tertiary sector

Tertiary sector is the service industry.


This sector makes the lives of people much easier by providing services

Examples of tertiary sector


 Banking ,
 Hair cutting,
 Teaching.

Developing countries: countries which employ many more people in


primary sector than in secondary and tertiary sector.

Deindustrialization: occurs when there is a decline in the importance of


the secondary sector, in other words the factories which manufactures
goods are closed.

Mixed economy: a mixed economy has both private sector and a public
sector.

Private sector: businesses owned and controlled by private individuals.

The main aim of private sector businesses is to make profit

Public sector: businesses owned and controlled by government


Examples are
• Government hospitals
• Government schools
• Public transport
• Water supply
• Electricity supply.

Privatization: selling some public sector businesses which is owned and


controlled by government – to private sector businesses.
