SAMPLE PART 2 -SPEAKING

1. Describe this picture

• Hmmm it’s an interesting picture. In this picture I can see a
man reading a newspaper.
• He looks about 30 years old. He has short brown hair.
• He’s wearing a black suit and a blue tie.
• Maybe he is a businessman
• He is really focusing on his reading. I think he likes updating
news by newspapers.
• Behind him there are many televisions. The TVs are showing
some programs. I think they’re news programs. The TVs are
a little old now.
2. How do most people in your country learn about world news?
• In my country there are many ways to learn about world
news.
• You can watch or read the news online, you can read a
newspaper and you can listen to the radio.
• I think the most popular way of receiving news is online.
There are many websites but you can also get news
through social media like Twitter and Facebook. It’s very
convenient for me.

3. How has the reporting of news changed in the last fifty years?
• That’s an interesting question. 50 years ago the news was
reported by radio. People didn’t have internet and not
many people had TVs. Radio was very important 50 years
ago worldwide. People could listen to the radio at home, in
their cars or in the restaurant.
• But nowadays, the life is more and more developing, so
People have a lot of ways to report or update news. We can
use smart phones or smart TVs, some people access to
Internet so fast. Those ways are very convenient and easy.
1. Describe this picture
• Well, in the picture, I can see a man talking on the phone.
• I can see a laptop and a cup of coffee on the table, too.
• He is wearing a blue suit and black tie.
• I guess he is a businessman.
• Maybe he is calling his colleague or his customer to discuss their work.
They can work together and communicate well online without meeting
each other.
• The weather is quite good and his space is so cozy. It is so effective and
convenient.

Q2. Describe a time you talked on the phone recently.

I talk on the phone every day, at least 2 times per day. I often call to talk with my
customers to discuss about our work, I call my Mom to tell her about my daily
life, etc. Yesterday, I called the forwarder to ask them about the booking
confirmation for our new shipment to USA. I have been waiting for their response
for a week and I just got the answer until I called them and talked to them on the
phone. The reason for replying late is that they missed my email. Finally, our
problem was solved.
Q3. Will writing messages replace talking on the phone?
• In my opinion, writing messages will not replace talking on
the phone all the time.
• It depends on the call’s aim and content. If the call is
urgent and important, I think people should make a phone
call so that they can talk to the partner directly and
immediately.
• By doing that, people can get the response as soon as
possible without waiting for a long time.
• If the call is not urgent and you have enough time to wait
for the response, you can text messages, so the receiver
can answer you later without any hurry
