eight people dead, including a group of rescuers who were scrambling to save villagers trapped in
floodwaters, officials said.

- Five government rescuers drowned in San Miguel town in Bulacan province after their boat
overturned when it was hit by a collapsed wall, tossing them into rampaging floodwaters, police and
officials said.

- "They were living heroes who were helping save the lives of our countrymen in the calamity,"
Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando told DZMM radio network. "This is really very sad."

B.Typhoon Fabian (Macabebe Pampanga)

- The municipality of Macabebe was placed under state of calamity due to flooding and damages
caused by the enhanced monsoon rains and recent typhoon Fabian.

- The Sangguniang Bayan of Macabebe, in a regular session held Wednesday, unanimously passed
Resolution No. 224 series of 2019-2022, following the motion of Councilor Joel Simpauco.

- In reports submitted by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to the
Sangguniang Bayan, almost all barangays of Macabebe have been greatly affected by flooding due
to continuous downpour of heavy rains brought about by Habagat, as enhanced by Typhoon Fabian.
“This flooding affected the agri-fisheries sector in the town, causing huge losses amounting to P53.69
million. It also caused damages to various infrastructure projects wherein an estimated P433.1 million
is needed for rehabilitation,” the resolution said.

- It also stated that about 29,176 families or 116,704 individuals were affected with 102 families or
399 individuals in evacuation facilities.

C.Typhoon Liwayway (Pampanga)

- MORE than P5 million worth of crops have been destroyed by flooding caused by continuous
monsoon rains that were enhanced by Typhoon Liwayway in the past few days. The Provincial
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and Office of the Provincial
Agriculturist, in a report Tuesday, September 3, 2019, said that damage to palay crops has reached
P5.65 million in at least two towns.

- Candaba town registered some P4.4-million losses while Magalang town reported damage to P1.2
million worth of palay. Meanwhile, the number of flooded areas in Pampanga has increased to 33
barangays as of Wednesday afternoon, September 4. This is due to continuing rains from the
prevailing monsoon and high tide.
- At least 33 barangays in the province – seven in Macabebe town, 21 in Masantol and five in San
Simon were reportedly still submerged in up to three feet of floodwaters as of Wednesday noon. The
southwest monsoon will bring scattered light to moderate rains (with at times heavy rain showers
during thunderstorms) over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon.

- Typhoon Liwayway, which has been intensifying the effects of the monsoon, is forecast to exit the
Philippine Area of Responsibility Thursday, between the afternoon and evening.

- The PDRRMO disaster response personnel and all equipment remained prepositioned 24/7 while
local DRRMOs are tasked to regularly monitor the situation in their respective jurisdictions and report
