1. Attached is Revision C-12 to the SA227 Airframe Airworthiness Limitations Manual, ST-UN-M001.
2. File this transmittal letter in front of the title page or where most convenient to you.
Compliance is mandatory with the inspection schedules and the retirement lives for life limited
components and assemblies at the specified hours time in-service. Airworthiness lives assigned to
airframe components and assemblies are based on experience, testing, and engineering judgement
and are subject to change only with FAA approval. However, should a revision to this manual, cause a
change in retirement lives or inspection intervals, aircraft that have reached or exceeded the time
limits, should be brought into compliance with this manual at the 1(;76&+('8/('$&&(66,1
&21-81&7,21:,7+7+(3+$6(25/(77(5&+(&.,163(&7,21352*5$0, the airplane is

)25(:25'
The objective of this inspection manual is to provide data for operators to use in evaluating and
supplementing their existing structural inspection program for in-service SA227 series aircraft.
The intent of this document is to identify, within existing inspection areas, significant structural details
susceptible to damage or fatigue failure that warrant special attention.
This manual is divided into sections of the aircraft, namely; cargo door, cargo door frame, cabin door/
door frame area, cabin, fuselage, cargo area/fuselage, horizontal stabilizer, vertical stabilizer, wings,
landing gear, control system cables, cabin windows and stall avoidance system. Each section is
illustrated to identify areas of inspection. Initial inspection intervals, in flight hours, are listed as well as
reinspection intervals. Types of inspection called for are categorized as; V– visual, P – dye penetrant,
M – mirror, E – eddy current, X – x-ray, F – functional check, and R – recalibration.

B. – 100 to 500 KHz shielded absolute pencil probe similar to the Nortec probe, stock No.
9213408. Note: This probe requires a separate cable (the same probe cable as above).
C. – 1 to 100 KHz sliding probe similar to the Nortec sliding probe stock No. SPO3806. Note: This
probe requires a separate cable.
Revisions will occasionally be issued to change those inspection times affected by design changes.
Additional inspections and modifications are available to extend the life of the aircraft to a maximum
of 50,000 flight hours. These inspections and modifications are described in the SID document (P/N
27-10054-213).

1-4 Inspect each door face plate and receptacle face plate for evidence of deformation. If —
1-5 deformed, also inspect door frame and door latch assembly for evidence of cracks or
2-2 deformation. If such defects are detected, replace with airworthy part(s).
2-3
2-2 Using an inside micrometer, or equivalent, measure and record the inside diameter —
2-3 of each receptacle (or bushing if installed) located in the fuselage door frame as
shown in Figure 2 of this manual. Measure across the hole in at least three directions
to check for roundness. The widest dimension must be used to compare with the
maximum allowable dimensions provided in Table 1.
• If any receptacle or bushing is oversized, replace with an airworthy part.
• Determine the X2 value from Table 1 for each receptacle (or bushing) based on
inside diameter measured. Record X2 value in Table 2 on following page.
1-4 To assure proper adjustment of the latch actuator jaws into the door frame receptacle, 1E
1-5 three additional measurements are necessary. The first measurement (Dimension
X1) is the dimension from the door face plate surface to the undercut on the actuator
jaws with the door open and handle in LOCKED position. Measure and record as
Dimension X1 in Table 2 for each latch position.
1-4 The second measurement (Dimension Y1) is the dimension from the fuselage frame 1F
1-5 receptacle face plate surface to the actuator jaws seating surface inside the fuselage
2-2 frame receptacle with door open. Measure and record as Dimension Y1 in Table 2 for
2-3 each latch position receptacle.
1-4 The third measurement (Dimension Y2) is the gap (taken with a feeler gauge with 1G
1-5 door closed and handle in LOCKED position) between the surface of the fuselage
2-2 frame face plate and the door frame face plate. Measure and record as Dimension Y2
2-3 in Table 2 for each latch position.

TABLE 1 NOTES:
1. Refer to A.D. 2007-16-03 or Airplane Maintenance Manual Section 27-40-10 for acceptable replacement
pitch trim actuator part numbers.
2. Control Column Pivot Bearing Configuration modification IAW SB 227-27-042 terminates the repetitive
replacement of the control column pivot bearing and the repetitive nut torque check.
3. The P/N 27-71026-001 Aileron Control Chain is a section of the aileron control cable assembly
(P/N 27-70001-011 for AC, AT and BC models; P/N 27-70002-011 for TT model). Replacement of
these aileron control cable assemblies (2 per aircraft) satisfies this chain replacement requirement
as long as they are replaced at the interval stated for the chain.

SUPPLEMENT A
4. AD 85-22-06 applies to Stall Avoidance System on aircraft S/N TT421 thru TT535, TT537 thru
TT541; AT423 thru AT526, AT528, AT530 thru AT585; AC406, AC415, AC416, AC420 thru AC601,
and AC603. See AD for required SB227-27-006 task and compliance time intervals for these aircraft.
For all other aircraft S/N's, reference Figure 14 in this manual.
5. This interval is subsequent to the initial compliance threshold detailed in Service Letter 227-SL-063.
See Service Letter for the initial threshold requirement.
6. Oxygen cylinders marked with DOT 3HT require a hydrostatic test every 3 years and are limited to a
maximum service life of 24 years after original manufacture or 4,380 pressurization cycles whichever
comes first. If a cylinder is recharged on average more than once every other day, an accurate record
of the number of rechargings must be maintained.
Oxygen cylinders marked with DOT 3AA and DOT 3AL require a hydrostatic test every 5 years and
are not life limited.
Composite oxygen cylinders are limited to a maximum service life of 15 years after original manufacture.
If hydrostatically tested after June 30, 2006, then they are required to be hydrostatically tested every
5 years. If hydrostatically tested before July 1, 2006, then they are required to be hydrostatically
tested every 3 years.
