XEROX The Xerox 620, 625, 627 and 630 Memorywriters with Communication Options = & es | ea is ——— L | ['B AES ee = ano nal THE XEROX 620, 625, 627 and 630 MEMORYWRITERS Superior Electronic Typewriters Xerox Memory writer electronic typewriters have been designed {o take the effort out of producing letter-perfect letters, memos and reports. The 620, 625 and 627 Memorywriters have the same set of labor-saving features. Only the capacity of the in- ternal memory varies from model to model. The 620 stores up to 5 pages (9,300 characters) and the 625 and 627 can hold up {0 10 pages (19,200 characters) and 15 pages (31,000 characters) respectively. The 630 Memorywriter has an expanded set of capabilities and utilizes a diskette for storage which provides 70 pages (138,300 characters) of removable memory. Standard Features include: © Cozrecting Ribbon Automatic Correction Memory = 20 Character Display forage and Retrieval Phrase and Forinat Memory = Find" Capability = Automatic Centering w= Insert and Delete = Automatic Table Layout '§ Automatic Forms Mode = Automatic Carrier Return = Hyphenation Sean = Automatic Underlining = Justincation = 10, 12 and 15 Piteh and Bold Printing Proportional Spacing and many others to simplify and speed typing. THE 620C, 625C, 627C and 630C MEMORYWRITERS The Right Decision For The 1980’s ‘The ‘‘C suffix after the model numbers on these Memory- writers indicates they are equipped with the Communications Option. You can specify this extra-cost option when you order your Memorywriter, or it can be added later, In either case 620C, 625C, 627C, and 630C Memorywriters can do “double duty" in your office, now and in the future, 620C, 625C, 627C, 630C Applications The common applications for Memorywriters equipped with Communications Options are: Communications Terminal The 620C, 62SC, 627C, or 630C can be linked with appro- riately programmed remote computers via telephone lines to perform tasks such as data base access, modification, and retrieval; financial and statistical analysis; sales order entry; document development and many common interactive ter” minal applications. Currenily, commercial time-sharing companies provide a wide variety of information services which can be accessed by subscribers. This includes information on airline sched- ules, financial markets, news stories, and a wide variety of other topics. For companies who have “electronic mail” today or are considering adding this type of system in the future, the {620C, 625C, 627C, or 6320 could serve asa terminal on this network. This would allow typing, proof-reading and edit- ing of mail prior to transmission. And, using the 620C, 625C, 627C, or 630C for this application would eliminate the cost and space required by a special-purpose electronic ‘mail terminal, Memorywriters can be electronically linked with many word processors which are equipped with compatible communica- tion options. The word processor can be used for expanded document storage, revision and high speed printing. Recsive-Only (RO) Printer The 620C, 625C, 627C or 630C can be directly connected to a personal computer to serve as a letter-quality printer at speeds of up to 20 characters per second. A Memorywriter with a Communications Option represents an attractive alternative to single-purpose personal computer printers, Memorywriter Communication Capabilities The 620C, 625C, 627C and 630C offer Interactive and Batch communication. In Interactive mode, documents are trans- mitted as you type, and printed as they are received, In Batch mode, documents are transmitted from, or received into, the memory of the Memorywriter, This permits transmission at higher rates of speed. (In all models when the MEMORY is on you are in Batch mode.) ‘The Memorywriter display indicates when the typewriter is in the communications mode. The display is also used to select communications options, such as baud rate, and error condi- tion codes are also displayed. Of course, in Batch mode the dis- play will show data as itis typed prior to transmission, and cor- us ea be nade at auy point, Widh che (630, the basie word processing program diskette must be resi- dent in the typewriter when option selections are made. ‘The 620C, 62SC, 627C and 630C have standard Memorywriter keyboards. N-key rollover is employed for maximum data integrity. ASCII character set printwheels are available and keyboard layout guide stickers are provided which indicate key positions for printable characters and control codes, (See ASCII Code Chart for details.) ‘Standard cut sheet paper can be used. When continuous form paper is used, it is friction-fed. Maximum paper width is 15.2 inches: In addition to the ASCII Code set, the 620C, 625C, 627C or 630C Memorywriter can transmit and receive a Memorywriter “Point to Point” code set. This consists of the 8-bit Memory writer internal code set, plus the ASCII control code set. This would permit the transferring of documents with full integrity utilizing special Memorywriter features, such as bold typing and automatic centering, ‘When documents are transmitted in batch mode in ASCII code the Communication Option deletes some of the unique Mem- orywriter codes such as Bold and Automatic underline. Spaces tare substituted for certain codes 30 that page layout intesrity can be maintained at the receiving end. Spaces are automati- cally inserted to replace Center, Tab, Auto Indent, Right Flush and Decimal Tab codes to achieve an approximate page image. The 620C, 625C, 627C and 630C Memorywriters have EIA RS232C (Serial) interface connectors located at rear of the type writer. A dual male, ten foot modem cable is supplied. Maxi mum cable length is $0 feet. These Memorywriters equipped with communications options are compatible with a wide vari- ety of low and medium speed modems and acoustic couplers. Direct connection with another communicating device can be accomplished with the use of a modem eliminator.
