Good scientists keep track of many things. They
* 5–10 sheets
write down the things they wonder about and the lined paper
questions they ask. They record the steps they take in
* pencil
the scientific method. Create a special notebook to
* 3-ring binder
help you keep track of what you do and learn about
predators and prey.

1 Fold the sheets of 11-by-17-inch paper in half with a hamburger


fold. You will use these when you do activities comparing
predators and prey. You can record your observations about each
group on different sides and see the results next to each other.

2 Place a piece of lined paper so the holes are along the folded
edge of the 11-by-17-inch paper. Use the hole punch to make
three holes in the 11-by-17-inch paper pieces so
they can be kept in your binder.

3 Place all the sheets in the


binder. You will use these
pages to record the steps of
the scientific method and
your thoughts about the
questions in each chapter.

4 Decorate the cover and get


ready to learn!
