Summary of the novel

One day, there were two men with a similar personality work as a partner named Ebenezer
Scrooge and Jacob Marley. They were stingy and selfish. Jacob Marley was already dead in the
story while Ebenezer Scrooge was working and living alone. One night, Scrooge heard a strange
noise from the stairs and turned out it was his dead partner Jacob Marley. Jacob warned Scrooge
to change his attitude or he will be forged with a heavy chain and Jacob said that he will be
visited by three Christmas ghost which are the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future.
Those three ghosts bought Scrooge to different places. They bought Scrooge to different places
to help him realize and change his attitude. After going to the three places, Scrooge realized what
he had done and changed to be a better person.

Clarification of terms
Novel is a story with the prose form in long shape, this long shape means the story including the
complex plot, many character and various setting.
Every story needs the plot to make it interesting. Plot is the arrangement of details and incidents
in a story.
Character is an important part of the story which contributes a lot to the story. A character is a
person who plays a certain role in the story.

Analysis
This chapter consist of three points which are major character, minor character, and moral value.
The major character is Ebenezer Scrooge. He is a selfish and mercenary man. All he did was
only working and finding money.
There are two minor characters which are Jacob Marley and three Christmas ghosts.
Jacob Marley is a greedy man. he was forged with heavy chain after he was dead. The heavy
chain represents his guilt in life.
The three Christmas ghosts are kind and willing to help Ebenezer Scrooge.
The moral value in this story is it’s never too late to change the way we act and we shouldn’t just
think about our self, we should think about how other feel and don’t be too selfish.
