WHY PEOPLE HELP EACH OTHER

I once read somewhere a quote that made me feel very fond: "When you
grow up, you will realize why you have two hands, one to help yourself and one
to help others". However, in today's complicated world, being able to overcome
your own selfishness, laziness and fear to reach out to help others is really not
easy. Even so, there are still many stories about good people. They still choose to
help each other for the reasons I mention below.
The first reason you help someone is because they are your family
members or friends, you love them and want to do good things for them. From
the smallest and simplest things like helping parents with housework, teaching
children to do homework, or giving a ride to a best friend because her bike
broke… You help them for no reason, simply just because you love them.
Second, there is no need to be a relative to get help. Sometimes strangers
on the road need help, you feel sympathy for their situation and want to help them.
I wonder what if it was me who was having trouble. Someone once said: "What
you give, is what you get" so by helping others in need, I believe that when I am
in trouble, I will also receive help.
Third, through helping others, you can also learn new skills or discover
your hidden talents. For example, you will discover that you have the ability to
present and teach when volunteering to teach orphans or care for others while
spending time with elderly people in a nursing home. Once, I helped my best
friend take care of her newborn baby when her husband was away from work, I
discovered that I really love babies and do very well in newborn care skills, even
though I have no experience in this.
And finally, medically, some researchers think that when you help others,
your brain releases a hormone called "happiness hormone". It affects your
perception. When you do some kindness, you can feel proud and begin to see
yourself as a helpful person. This new insight can help you feel more confident,
optimistic, and get better health.
Overall, the decision to help or not to help others has many reasons.
Depending on the situation you are in and the condition you have, you decide
whether to help someone or not. As a person who is always towards good values,
I always choose to help others whenever I can. Because I believe “what goes
around comes around”.
