Restaurant Blurb Assignment

Overview: There are many instances in the culinary profession where you will need to put your
writing skills into practice. One such place is in menu design. This assignment will test your
creativity in writing and practically apply it using the knowledge gained throughout this course.

For this assignment:

Make up a restaurant concept, and write a page that might appear on the back of its menu: its
history, its style, what it's all about. Be sure to use the writing principles covered in this course!

Note: There is no right or wrong in this assignment. It is purely creative. You can create
whatever restaurant you like. You will be graded on the written execution of your concept, not
on the concept itself.

Your paper must meet the following criteria:

○ No longer than 1 page.

○ Written in a professional tone using correct grammar and punctuation.

Hello Patrons!
Welcome to Ray’s Cafe where we specialize in true blue collar work ethic and great customer
service. Not to mention our mouth watering delicious cuisine. Speaking of cuisine, please come
by and try our "Long Island”. My version of lox on a bagel. Or our famous scrambled eggs and
cheese with home fries. If you just want a refreshing beverage. We have our signature iced
cinnamon tea with milk amongst other things.
Ray’s Cafe was started in August 2021 after I graduated from culinary school. Originally
intended to be a food truck things didn’t pan out for that path. So instead I rented out a former
ice cream parlor. Things weren’t as smooth as ice cream. Instead it was tougher than a thick
milkshake. Even still we’re still here and that’s because of patrons like you. The satisfaction that
my team and cuisine gives to each of you. Are a profit on its own and if you’re not a regular. Or if
this is your first time here. After this meal that’ll change. Like my grandfather Ray used to say
“respect others like a chef respects their food”. He was a wise man hence our name. Thank you
