[7] Join the diamonds to form a ring:
Work a ladder stitch with an A (figure 4,
a–b and photo a). Making sure your
band of diamonds is not twisted, sew
through the available end A in the lad-
der row of the first diamond, and sew
back through the A just added (b–c and a

in the first diamond again (c–d). e

the A at the top point of the next dia-
mond (d–e). Sew through the corre-
sponding A at the top of every other
diamond to form the back of the pocket d
a
(photo c). Retrace the thread path, and
sew through the beadwork to exit the
A at the opposite point of one of the b c
diamonds that was not joined in this step.
[9] Insert an 18 mm rivoli so the back
of the rivoli rests against the beads
joined in the previous step. Flip forward
the three diamonds that were not joined
in the previous stitch so the top points
meet in the center on the front of the FIGURE 4
rivoli. Pick up an A, and sew through
the top A in the next diamond. Repeat
this stitch twice (photo d), and retrace
the thread path. End the working
thread and tail.

Small pinwheel pockets

[1] Work as in steps 1–9 of “Large
pinwheel pocket,” noting the following
changes:
• Use color B 110 cylinder beads instead
of As. b c
• In step 1, start with a ladder of just
six beads.
• In step 2, work only four rows of
brick stitch.
• In step 9, insert a 16 mm rivoli.
