Scene 1: Workhouse
[Oliver Twist is seen in the workhouse, surrounded by other poor orphans. Mr. Bumble, the
pompous and strict beadle, enters the scene.]

Mr. Bumble: (addressing the orphans) Attention, you scoundrels! Time for your daily gruel.
No talking, no fussing!

[The orphans line up and receive their meager portions of gruel. Oliver hesitates, hungry
and desperate.]

Oliver: Please, sir, may I have some more?

[Gasps fill the room. Mr. Bumble and Mrs. Corney, the matron, exchange disapproving
looks.]

Mrs. Corney: How dare you ask for more, you wretched boy? We shall teach you a lesson!
Mr. Bumble: (leaning closer to Oliver) You impudent child! Do you not understand the rules
of this place? One must be grateful for what they receive, no matter how little.

Oliver: But sir, I am so hungry. Can't you spare a bit more?

Mrs. Corney: (shaking her head disapprovingly) We've coddled you for far too long. It's time
you learned some discipline.

Scene 2: The Streets of London

[Oliver is kicked out of the workhouse and wanders the streets of London. He encounters
the Artful Dodger, a street-smart young boy.]

Dodger: Well, well, what do we have here? A lost lamb, are you? Come with me, Oliver, I'll
show you the ropes.

[They enter Fagin's den, a hideout for a gang of child pickpockets.]

Scene 3: Fagin's Den

[Fagin, a crafty and manipulative older man, greets Oliver and Dodger.]

Fagin: Ah, my dear Oliver, welcome to our humble abode. Meet the rest of the family –
Nancy, Charley Bates, and Bet.

Nancy: (smirking) Another little bird has joined the nest, Fagin. You're getting quite the
collection.

Oliver: (looking around cautiously) Are you all thieves, then?

Charley Bates: (laughs) Thieves, pickpockets, and street urchins, that's what we are. But
don't worry, Oliver, you'll learn the ropes soon enough.
Scene 4: Oliver's First Pickpocketing Job
[Fagin trains Oliver in the art of pickpocketing. They plan to target Mr. Brownlow, an elderly
and wealthy gentleman.]

Oliver: I can't steal from anyone, especially not from a kind old man like Mr. Brownlow.

Fagin: (chuckling) Oh, my dear boy, you have much to learn. Survival on these streets isn't
for the faint of heart. It's either steal or starve.

Oliver: (hesitant) But what if there's another way? What if I could find a life beyond
thievery?

Fagin: (grinning) Dreams won't put food in your belly, Oliver. Stick to the plan, and you'll be
fine.

Scene 5: Meeting Mr. Brownlow

[Oliver approaches Mr. Brownlow, attempting to pick his pocket, but hesitates.]

Oliver: (whispering) Please forgive me, sir. I cannot steal from you.

Mr. Brownlow: (startled) What's this? A young lad with a conscience? You've surprised me,
Oliver.

Oliver: I may be poor and desperate, sir, but I still believe in right and wrong.

Mr. Brownlow: (smiling warmly) Well, Oliver, I believe you deserve a chance at a better life.
Come with me, and we shall see to it.

Scene 6: Mr. Brownlow's Residence

[Oliver is welcomed into Mr. Brownlow's home, where he meets Rose Maylie, a
compassionate young woman.]

Rose Maylie: (kindly) Mr. Brownlow has taken you in out of the kindness of his heart, Oliver.
You deserve a chance to escape the hardships of this cruel world.

Oliver: (grateful) Thank you, Miss Maylie. I never thought I'd find such kindness and warmth
in my life.

Scene 7: Nancy's Dilemma

[Nancy, torn between her loyalty to Fagin and her growing affection for Oliver, confides in
Rose.]

Nancy: (worried) Rose, I'm in a terrible bind. Fagin won't let Oliver go so easily. He's a
dangerous man, capable of terrible things.

Rose Maylie: We must devise a plan to free Oliver from Fagin's grip and ensure his safety. I
won't let him fall back into that life.

Nancy: (teary-eyed) I care for Oliver, Rose. I want to protect him, even if it means going
against everything I've known.

Scene 8: The Final Confrontation

[Nancy, Rose, and Mr. Brownlow devise a plan to rescue Oliver. They confront Fagin and Bill
Sikes, a ruthless criminal and Nancy's partner.]

Nancy: Fagin, you must release Oliver. He deserves a chance at a better life, away from this
life of crime.

Fagin: (defiantly) He belongs to me! He's my ticket to riches!

Bill Sikes: (menacingly) Nancy, you're treading on dangerous ground. You know what will
happen if you betray us.

Nancy: (standing her ground) I'm doing this for Oliver, Bill. He deserves better than this.

Scene 9: Redemption and Reunion

[Nancy's sacrifice and Fagin's arrest lead to Oliver's freedom. He reunites with Mr.
Brownlow, Rose, and the newfound family who saved him.]

Oliver: (grateful and emotional) I am forever grateful to all of you for showing me kindness
and love. I promise to make the most of this second chance.

Mr. Brownlow: (smiling proudly) Oliver, you have the strength and resilience to overcome
any adversity. We believe in you.

[The play concludes with a hopeful and heartwarming ending, emphasizing the power of
redemption and the triumph of good over evil.]
