Criterion Di:

1- For the Layered Image, was interesting? If yes, what is the evidence of it being
interesting? If no, why wasn’t it interesting?

I think it is interesting because we can create some art works that is funny, we can
combine several images in a way to create another image.

2- Did you follow your Artistic Intent? If no, what change and why? If yes, how close was it
to what you had in your mind and on the paper? What would you do differently with
your Artistic Intent? (Please include your Artistic Intent as well so it can be checked
against your finished artwork)

I follow almost all the parts in the Artistic Intent, I only change something very tiny: add a
torpedo and add a fire behind it.

3- Were the selections done properly with clean edges?

I think I did to all of the images except for the shark because all the other images are
with clean edges, but the part of the shark fin is not very clean.

4- Did you have the right number of layers? Masks?

I did because I have 13 layers of images, and 5 masks, which means it met the needs of
at least 10 layers and 3 masks.

5- How did you use blending layers? Filters? Opacity? How did it help your final work?

I use only one of the above, which is the “opacity”. I make the opacity of the boat on the
surface of the ocean low because it is far from way and there is the sun above it.

6- Was the composition engaging?

I think it is because although the shark is “eating” a person, I put the heaven inside its
mouse to make it funnier. I also use a submarine and some torpedoes to kill the shark.

7- Does it appear there is a story being told?

It appears a story: On a sunny day, a diver comes to the deep ocean from a boat on the
surface of the ocean. When he is doing a hand gesture to the camera, a big shark comes
behind him and he doesn’t know! He is going to the heaven through the big shark’s
mouse. Hopefully, a submarine carries 2 torpedoes and use one torpedo to kill the
shark. The diver saves by the submarine.

8- Do the composited layers look like they work together? Belong in the same image?

I think they work together well because many people think that my image looks
interesting and think the combinations of the images is good.

9- Was your work successful and explain why. It's the "why" that is most important in
answering. And using examples from your work as evidence.

I think it is successful because it is matching with the Artistic Intent that I made, and it also
make others happy, which means it meets my need to this artwork.

Criterion Dii:

1- What did you learn in this unit that was used to make your Layered Masterpiece?

I learned how to use masking tool, so I can put the heaven into the shark’s mouse and to
change its eyes into rubies. I also learned how to change the opacity of an image to
make it fits in the background better, so I can make the boat more realistic.

2- What was the most important thing you learned, and why is it so important?

I think the most important thing that I learned is that I know I can use a tool something
looks like a brush to select things. Before, I only know to use the marquees and the
freehand selection too, and they can’t fit in some situations. But now, I know I can use
the brush selection tool to select the part I want to select easily.

3- What are some ways you can use Affinity Photo in the future?

Maybe I can use to edit some photos easily and use it in the videos I will make and
upload to the internet, or I can use it to make some interesting images and post them
on WeChat.

4- What did you learn that helped you make the composites look like all the images
belonged together?

I learned how to use the masking tools, so the images can fit with each other nicely, and
there won’t be any bad edges if use it correctly.
5- What are some of the things you want to learn in the future about learning Affinity
Photo?

I want to learn how to clear the bad edge after selected the images because I sometimes
already finished the artworks, but I found out there are bad edges. To change it is very
difficult, so I want to learn a way to change it easily.

6- How as this unit helped you become a better visual story teller?

I learned how to mask the images so that I can put images together and there won’t be
any bad edges, then it will look more natural.

7- Has this unit helped you think you are a better creator or artist than you thought you
were?

I think it doesn’t help me a lot (but it still helped me) because I never thought thar I am
an artist that is making some composite images, although it is interesting. The only
purpose I will use composite images in real life is to create emojis or creating funny
images and use them in my videos.
