6-Series - General Service

Ref. nr. 1600.770

I. About this manual

This manual has been written for the technicians involved in the service of the 6-Series units.
The manual has a modular set-up and each module describes a separate application module or
assembly of the unit. Each part of the service manual has an unique reference number.

This publication may include technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. Changes are
periodically made to the information herein. These changes will be published as a revised
version of the manual or revised module of the manual, or as additional service information
sheets, referred to as Service Info's.

Safe execution of the procedures in this manual requires technical experience and general
knowledge of safety precautions.

Warnings, Cautions and Notes have been used throughout the manual to bring special matters
to the immediate attention of the reader.

, Warning The Warning concerns danger to the safety of the technician or user;
 Caution The Caution draws attention to an action which may damage the equipment;
 Note The Note points out a statement deserving more emphasis than the general text,
but which does not deserve a Warning or Caution.

The sequence of steps in a procedure may also be important from the point of view of personal
safety and prevention of damage, therefore never change the sequence of procedural steps or
alter a procedure.

II. Service documentation, Service Info’s and software updates

Service documentation is available via your local sales organization, your distributor, or our
Internet site at a restricted area called “Partner site” which is password protected *.

Additional information about and/or modifications to the unit will be published as a revised
version of the complete manual or revised part of the manual, or as additional service
information sheets, referred to as Service Info's.

Each Service Info will refer to a particular part of the manual and must be added at the end.
Service Info’s are indicated by a prefix (SI) followed by the part number (e.g. 1600.770-4x) and a
sequential number (e.g. SI 1600.770-40-1). When a part is revised, the information of the
Service Info’s of the previous version can be integrated into the new release if relevant.

New releases of the manual or separate parts and/or Service Info’s can be published without
prior notice. Check your local sales organization, your distributor or our Internet site* regularly
for the latest release or additional information.

Software updates will be made available via our Internet site at the Partner site.

* Service documentation, service info’s and software updates are found at our Partner site
