    The 1st Annual MdDS Friendraiser & Walk-a-thon was being held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 in Denver, Colorado to raise money for the MdDS Balance Disorder Foundation. The event featured a 2 mile walk starting at Hope United Methodist Church to support research for Mal de Débarquement Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder. Donations of $25 received a complimentary t-shirt, $50 donations received 2 t-shirts, and $150 sponsors would be recognized in newsletters. Those unable to walk could participate virtually by sending in photos of themselves walking. All funds raised would support clinical studies to improve diagnosis and treatment of MdDS.

    Mal de Dbarquement Syndrome (MdDS) or Disembarkment Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder of perceived movement that most often develops following an ocean cruise, other type of water travel, or motion experience including plane flights and train travel. For a few, there is no known motion event; the onset appears to be spontaneous. MdDS persists for months to years. Research is needed to find the cause and provide a cure.
