QUESTION #1:

Select three companies in different industries, such as banking, retail store, supermarket, airlines, or package delivery that you do
business with. What digital technologies does each company use to engage you, keep you informed, or create a unique customer
experience? How effective is each use of digital technology to keeping you a loyal customer?

The three companies I selected are Shopee, Grab, and Samsung, which I am quite familiar with:

1. SHOPEE
One of the businesses in the Philippines that provides its clients with a quick, secure, and straightforward online shopping
experience together with trustworthy payment and fulfillment services is Shopee. Machine learning and natural language processing are
two crucial business procedures that the company's tech team uses for its business strategy. People can become more efficient in a variety
of ways using their e-commerce platform:

a. Buying and selling online

Online shopping gives customers more options and value.

Consumers can purchase from a sizable retailer on the other nation
or from a local place. In addition, people can sell online which can
lead to a huge scale of their business or merely to generate a small
profit from one item that consumers no longer need. Aside from
using Cash on Delivery (COD) option, Shopee also offers bank
transactions when purchasing an item.

b. Social media

Shopee also displays updates and suggestions on well-known social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, as
well as in games and on other websites, using algorithms. This engagement strategy makes the e-commerce platform be well-
known in other countries as well. Aside from that, it also keeps consumers informed by having notifications in case the items in the
consumers’ cart are on sale, have discounts, or free shipping vouchers.

It is effective to use for loyal consumers like me as it gives a wide variety of options and services easily. Its e-platform has
semantic search as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. It offers search filter based on the category, ratings, price range, shipped from (near
shipping locations), Shop type (it can be from their Shopee mall, preferred by sellers, or have a free shipping discount/ voucher), Shipping
option, Brand, and Services & Promotion. Through these, consumers can easily search their desired items.

2. GRAB (GRAB HOLDINGS INC.)

This business rose to prominence as one of the most well-known ride-hailing services
worldwide. It provides efficiency for people who need to reserve a ride to their locations. Grab
launched deliveries for food and groceries, mobility, and financial services as a result of its
popularity. The company employs machine learning and artificial intelligence for their
business strategy.

Based on my experience in using this application, it immediately keeps me informed of

the thorough progress report of their services. For instance, the app displays the estimated
arrival time, the rider's identity, and a map to help me find the rider when I purchase meals
from a fast-food chain. Also, in the event that there can be an unexpected issue with the
order, it provides a simple means of contact where the customer can talk with the driver or
vice versa. The app also allows consumers to rate delivery riders. Additionally, the semantic
search (as shown in Figure 2) of the app is quite commendable because the consumer can
order in the stores that are nearest to their location.

In addition, Grab notifies their users if any of their previous orders or preferred
businesses are currently offering discounts. The business also advertised its services on
various social media platforms. Because it uses digital technology to deliver detailed services
and quick responses to customer requests, it is effective for loyal customers like me to use.

3. SAMSUNG (SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO.)

Samsung is a South Korean Multinational

Electronics Corporation that offers consumers
different electronic devices and appliances.
Samsung became known as it gives better quality
and improving innovative technologies, including
televisions, mobile phones, smart home
appliances, and other mobile devices.

I always chose this brand when it comes to

mobile android phones. It has a better-quality
control, and many of their retail’s stores spread
widely which is convenient for consumers. In
addition, the brand has its own website wherein
consumers can choose their desired items. As
shown in the Figure 4, the company’s website
provides categories of available items, information
about their company, current news and updates

Other than that, Samsung also use different social media platforms for promotions. They also offer consumers to have a Samsung
account which gives more incentives for them such as access to their smart appliances or items and storage for data. As its companies
started in so many years ago, this company acquired many devoted customers. Apart from that, they improved their technology and
provided a variety of options. Due to the quality and longevity of their products, this brand has gained more recognition.

I think the internet can connect a wide range of people,
acting as branches that quickly spread the information we
already had. Therefore, not having a mobile device will be
similar to unfunctional tool that individual use that prevents
them from functioning.

Investing in a truck tire with embedded sensors will be a
great innovation on transportation systems, especially that
Philippines is prone to traffic and road incidents. They will gain
benefits and will be beneficial to the following:

product that can increase business investments as well
as to be a great promotion of their brand. Through this,
they can improve or develop other embedded systems
to other products they have.
 Delivery riders: The riders can monitor their truck tires
quality to avoid unexpected circumstances. For
instance, it will inform the delivery riders how many
kilometers does the tire can take in limited time or if
they already need the tires to be changed.

for maintenance, these businesses can also flourish.
This investment will help the transportation business grow.
However, given that other companies may invest in this kind of
product as well, I can conclude that this investment will be not
a long-term competitive edge. It will depend on the capabilities
of the transportation company to produce more of this product
in a distinctive manner that will set it apart from other
businesses which also invested.

Global positioning System (GPS) gained
popularity as more ride-hailing apps were developed. Both
people and different locations can be located by using this.
It specifically includes providing directions, distances
between locations by car or foot, options for drivers to take
better shortcuts, information on the busiest locations or
roads, the closest landmarks for a better understanding of
the directions, and faster transaction times in applications
that required this system. One example of this is the
Angkas app which is a passenger transport and offers
delivery services. The application use GPS to track the
location of their passengers and delivery goods that riders
need to drop off.

others. Google Drive is one instance of this. It is a free
cloud-based application that provides users with services
including file storage, file access, and file editing across
numerous accounts.

Game technologies became popular as
