Hey, it’s me ___________. I am currently studying in SJK(C) Aulong, Taiping.

I can’t wait to share you a story, Two Sisters, One Sarong written by
Lorraine Yoong. She is a mother of three children who resides in Kuala
Lumpur. She is passionate about children’s books that teach important life
lessons. I bet that boys and girls will both like it. It is a lovely picture book with
pictures on every page. I love the illustrations very much! Emila Yusof is the
illustrator. She is an award-winning Malaysian author and illustrator. She has
written and illustrated more than forty books. Well, this book is published in
2019 with a total of 42 pages.
Before that, I would like to say thank you to everyone of you for listening
to my sharing. I hope all of you will like this book too.
Without further ado, Two Sisters, One Sarong is story about
reconciliation. Gituan and Riang the two sisters grow up enjoying great times
together sharing a sarong and playing with it in every way they can possibly
think of. They live in a local village of the Lun Bawang tribe in the mountains
of Sarawak. Their relationship grows as they spend time together but one day
they fought over the sarong.
“It’s mine!” “No, it’s mine!!” “Arrggghh!!”
Both wanted it and both did not want to give in. The sarong tore in half,
and they went their own way with their torn half of the sarong. That was the
beginning of their strained relationship.
Even the arrival of their third sister did not heal them until one day a
crisis took place when the baby sister they loved fell into a river and the only
way to save her was for them to tie their sarongs together to rescue her from the
water.
The crisis and the knot tied on the bridge opened their eyes to see what
was more valuable in life. Peace! Peace is priceless and relationships that are
precious!
I’m a kid that loves to read story about families and therefore this story
manages to attract me to reread a few times.
Now, let me share you my thoughts about this story. Sarong is a symbolic
of a reunion of a family. In every relationship in life, be it family or friends. We
all face crisis where separations happen. It all depends on how we react to every
situation. From this story, we learn to tolerate with each other and find better
ways to communicate.
Ladies and gentlemen, remember the first to apologise is the bravest. The
first to forgive is the strongest. And the first to forget is the happiest. That’s all
from me, thank you for listening.
