CONTENT

Periodic Table
CONTENT STANDARD

The learners demonstrate an understanding of the periodic table of elements as an

organizing tool to determine the chemical properties of elements.

LEARNING COMPETENCY

Trace the development of the periodic table from observations based on

similarities in properties of element.
CODE

LEARNING MATERIALS

1. Science and Technology I: Integrated Science Textbook for First Year. Villamil,
Aurora M., Ed.D. 1998. pp. 52-53. *
2. Science 8 Learner’s Module. Campo, Pia C., et al. 2013. pp. 211-212.
OBJECTIVES

1. Trace the history of the development of the periodic table.

2. Identify the parts of the periodic table.
3. Group the elements based on their properties.

1. ELICIT MATERIALS

Review of the lesson about atoms using pictures. printed pictures

Using the first letter of the name of the pictures, let the
students guess the topic.

2. ENGAGE MATERIALS
Republic of the Philippines

The students are going to complete the timeline of the worksheet

development of the periodic table by analyzing the
events of which happened first up to the last.

3. EXPLORE MATERIALS

The students will follow the teacher’s instructions and worksheet

will color the group that is being described, with this the coloring materials
students will be able to identify the different parts of the
periodic table and classify the elements according to
their properties.

4. EXPLAIN MATERIALS

Clarify the concepts by discussing the answers of the

students on their activities.

5. ELABORATE MATERIALS

Strengthen the concepts gained by the students by oral visual aids

discussion. Ask the students the importance of
arrranging the elements.

6. EVALUATE MATERIALS

Administer a short paper and pencil test. pen

TEST I paper

Arrange the development of the periodic table. Use evaluation sheet

numbers 1 to 4. At the end of each statement write the
name of the scientist who contributed in the discovery.
