1. What role does the Labor and Employment Department play in this code?

The Labor and Employment Department, also known as the DOLE, plays a crucial
role in the code because it protects labor, fosters full employment, furnishes equal work
prospects regardless of gender, race, or creed, and handles employee-employer linkages. The
DOLE publicizes gainful employment prospects and optimizes the growth and utilization of
the country's workforce resources. They also develop and enforce procedures and agendas
and serve as the policy-advisory arm of the Executive Branch in labor and employment.

The roles they play are;

 promoters of the social and economic welfare of workers

 regulators of labor and employment conditions

 protectors of the workers' rights

 provider of employment services

 administer wage and salary administration

 developer of safety and health standards

 enforcer of labor laws and regulations

 conductor of research and development on labor and employment

2. On your own words, how do you define the health and safety committee?

Being in a workplace will never guarantee everyone's safety. It is not to think of

anything horrible, but workers should already understand the hazards that might occur in
workplaces. Although it is a place where workers face challenges every single time, health
and safety issues also add to workers' everyday challenges. These include high-rate work
injuries, life-threatening risks, work-related ill health, working with harmful substances, and
workplace stress, anxiety, and depression. Business sectors are already aware of every
business company's everyday health and safety issues. Workplaces addressed these matters
concerning health and safety through Health and Safety Committee. Health and Safety
Committee (HSC) are the ones who materialize guidelines to furnish health and safety
conventions. HSCs are the representatives of health and safety that address concerns related
to health and safety issues. Workers in HSC should also be handling menaces in the
workplace, enforce other appraisal practices, or examine training requirements. Although
HSCs' role is to resolve health and safety issues, there are also other responsibilities that they
have to undertake. These responsibilities include;

a. Fostering an alliance between the employees and the employer,

b. Permitting fellows to start, grow, and enforce health and safety control measures,
c. Developing, examining, and distributing safety measures and guidelines,
d. Furnishing a meeting for committee members to discuss health and safety issues,
e. Following any further procedures settled upon by the committee and the employer,
f. Devising methods or procedures to settle the determined issues,
g. Managing any further health and safety issues, and
h. Suggesting disciplinary measures to downsize hazards.

Health and Safety Committee are one of the crucial personnel in a workplace because,
without them, there would be no guarantee that the health and safety issues of the workers
will be resolved. They are the ones responsible for the workers to perform well in every work
given to them.
