A traveler who searches for his sister and uncovers the truth of the world

once upon a time, In the world of Teyvat, consisting of the seven great nations of Mondstadt, Liyue,
Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya; each country was ruled by a different god. The
mysterious floating island of Celestia is thought to be home to both gods and humans who have
ascended to godhood through great and heroic feats. Under the ground lie the ruins of the Khaenri'ah
nation which was destroyed by the gods 500 years before the events of the game. Unlike the seven
great nations, Khaenri'ah was not ruled by gods. The traveler is separated from his twin and trapped in
Teyvat. They are joined by a companion, Paimon, as they travel through Teyvat in search of their missing
sibling.

Each nation is associated with and worships one of the Seven, a group of gods known as "Arkhon", who
each preside over one of the seven nations. Each member of The Seven is tied to one of the game's
elements and is also reflected in aspects of their nation. Barbatos, Rex Lapis, Raiden Shogun, Kusanali,
and Tsaritsa are the Archons of Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, and Snezhnaya respectively.
However, the deity that is an Archon can change over time when the Archon dies. Certain individuals
selected by the Archons are granted Visions — magical gemstones that give their bearer the ability to
command the elements and the potential to ascend to the gods and reside in Celestia.

Mondstadt, the city of freedom, worships the Anemo Archon Barbatos and sits on an island in the
middle of a lake. The city is protected by the Knights of Favonius, whose job is to protect Mondstadt and
its citizens. To the southwest, Liyue worships the Geo Archon Rex Lapis (also known as Morax) and is the
largest market port in Teyvat. The port city is ruled by Liyue Qixing, a group of business leaders and
ancient guardians known as Adepts, a class of magical beings that includes Rex Lapis himself. Across the
sea to the southeast lies the isolationist island nation of Inazuma, overseen by the authoritarian Raiden
Shogun (also known as Baal) regime and the three government agencies that together form the Tri-
Commission: the Tenryou Commission, the Kanjou Commission, and the Yashiro Commission; each
oversees military and executive affairs, finance and foreign affairs, and ceremonial affairs respectively.

Snezhnaya, ruled by a Cryo Archon known as the Tsaritsa, sends out diplomats called Fatui, who
maintain friendly appearances while secretly employing underhanded methods. The Fatui are also led by
Eleven Fatui Harbingers, individuals who are given extraordinary powers and executive authority by the
Tsaritsa. Apart from the Fatui, the other main antagonist faction in the game is the Order of the Abyss,
legions of monsters who claim to be enemies. for all humanity and the nation of Teyvat. They are led by
a "Prince" or "Princess", the wanderer's missing twin.
A pair of twins traveling across different worlds arrive in Teyvat but attempt to leave after finding the
nation of Khaenri'ah under a devastating siege. However, they were separated by a god who took one
twin and sealed the other. The sealed twin, referred to as the "Wanderer", awakens five hundred years
later and meets Paimon, and the two embark on a journey to find their missing sister.

The "Wanderer" first arrived in the city of Mondstadt, which had been attacked by a dragon named
Stormterror. They meet Venti, a local bard who wants to appease Stormterror, who is Dvalin, one of
Mondstadt's ancient protectors. Retrieving the sacred harp stolen from Fatui, Venti tries to appease
Dvalin with the harp, but the dragon is manipulated into attacking him by an abyss order. The encounter
also reveals Venti to be the Anemo God Barbatos, and they pursue Dvalin and free him from the Abyss
Order's influence. After resolving the crisis, Venti is ambushed by the Fatui Harbinger La Signora, who
steals his Gnosis, a symbol of God's power.

Venti suggests the "Wanderer" to visit Liyue to meet Rex Lapis, the arkhonGeo, at a ceremony.

However, Rex Lapis was killed at the ceremony, and his body was hidden. Needing to avoid suspicion,
Wanderer gets help from funeral home consultants Zhongli and Fatui Harbinger Childe; the latter
manipulates Traveler into sowing conflict between Qixing, the head trade organization that manages
Liyue Harbor, and the Adepts, ancient guardians who defend Liyue. Childe locates Rex Lapis' body but is
unable to locate Gnosis and believes that Rex Lapis is still alive. To bait the Archon, Childe awakens an
ancient god, but the combined forces of Traveler, Qixing, and Adepts defeat him, after which the group
agrees to usher Liyue into a new age. Afterward, the Traveler discovers that Zhongli is Rex Lapis, who
gave his Gnosis
