A day in the life of a Channel Forecaster and Modeller

I started with Channel Forecasting two years ago. I have
a varied career background, having worked in various
public and private sector fields, and I can honestly say that
the team spirit I have experienced since joining has been
nothing short of fantastic. A career in Channel Forecasting
offers a huge range of opportunities to develop skills and
experiences across the DWP Operational Centre in a
supportive learning environment. What I like best is the
variety I’ve found in my job. Telephony forecasts play a
pivotal role for so many associated teams and Insert Picture
departments and you will find yourself developing
relationships with wide ranging stakeholders. From
utilising learnt forecasting methods to developing new
methods of your own, you will be working in a team that
prides itself on delivering a first-class service and
contributing in a significant way to improving service
delivery for our wide-ranging benefit customers.

A day in the life of a Channel Forecaster and Modeller

I love my role and am very lucky to be part of such a
Fab team
I really enjoy my role and feel very lucky to be part a great team
doing such important and challenging work.
Each day as a Channel Forecaster can be quite varied, but usually
starts with gathering data from a broad range of sources. These
include DWP data systems, outsource partners and other teams
across the Department and are used to identify anomalies,
patterns and trends as well as new drivers of demand via various Insert Picture
forecasting tools designed by the team.
Another major part of my day, and one that I really enjoy, is
taken up with stakeholder management. Building wide ranging
relationships is key to ensuring the team operates as efficiently
as possible, as well as ensuring that I have all the relevant insight
needed to make forecasting decisions.
The data available to me, how the Department delivers its
business and customer behaviour is constantly changing on a
day-to-day basis so I’m always looking for ways to adapt and
improve our methods and models to ensure that we meet the
needs of our customers.
