The Clock
STORY:

While visiting Switzerland, I stopped at a shop filled with clocks of all sizes--all ticking at the same time!
I heard one particular clock which had a distinctive sound and I decided to compose a piece about it. Every
so often a family with pets would march out of that clock and then disappear. When I reflect on time, I always
think of my little Swiss clock!

PRACTICE TIPS:

This piece is written in martellato style with only a few fingers involved in each hand. It is important to make
the melody sound as if it is played by one hand. The student needs to bring out the dynamics and vary the
sound. In the process of learning this piece, the student should also acquire the ability to play with a relaxed
sound.
