Norwegian builder Aas Mek Verksted
‘Ronja Commander’
have delivered another of their
impressive live fish carriers from their
yard in Vestnes.
Delivered in early September, ‘Ronja
Commander’ is destined for use in Scotland
by her new owner Sølv Trans, who also own
five other vessels built by Aas Mek. The vessel
is one of the yard’s AAS 902S designs and
features an overall length of 54.07 metres, a
beam of 12 metres and an overall hold
capacity of 940m3.
‘Ronja Commander’ has been built in
steel, with an aluminium superstructure, and
is equipped and arranged for the transport of
live fish in an ordinary open well or in a
closed hold with lateral circulation and
cooling via an RSW-system and with facilities
for sorting and delousing.
The holding room is spilt into two with
a sliding bulkhead. To load and unload live
fish the vessel is arranged with a pressure
system that is connected to a counting
system. The vessel is also arranged with
twin vacuum pump systems supplied by
Aquascan. The monitoring equipment for
the oxygen levels and water quality in the
well, has been supplied by Octopus Marine
Consultancy. To disinfect the holding
room and pipe system a mounted ozone
system has been fitted along with a jet
water washing system with disinfection
and foam equipment. The holding room is
connected to a RSW system with capacity
680,000kcal/t to cool the seawater and the
fish down to –1.5 degrees celsius. All

can be remote controlled and logged from
the wheelhouse. The vessel is also equipped
with underwater lights and video cameras SPECIFICATIONS

The wheelhouse has been arranged with Tonnage: 1,021GRT
three operating positions for helming the Main engine: Caterpillar 2512 TAHD series
ship, and, as mentioned before, has remote B, 1,119kW at 1,200rpm
control over all systems for the operation Gearbox: Finnøy
and monitoring of the fish as well as other Propellers: Finnøy
machinery on board. Speed: 14.5 knots
Deck equipment includes a 32 tonnes/ Auxiliaries: 2 x Caterpillar 3408 TA,
metres Palfinger Epsilon hydraulic crane, and each 410kW at 1,800rpm
a 23 tonnes/metre Palfinger deck crane

mounted on the poop deck with a 1.5 ton
