BMNG TAKEHOME TEST

AQIEL NAIDOO – 10083540

QUESTION 1:

Q.1.1) This is a system of recruitment which involves using technology in order to hire new
staff and employees for a business, an example of this could be a computer system which
operates in order to review CVs and pick out the best person for the positions the company
is wanting to fill (Erasmus et al 2019).

Q.1.2) this is a payment which is made by the state to an unemployed person. These
payments are made to people who have lost their jobs due to retrenchment or layoffs, an
example of this would be somebody who is working in a company which is laying their
employees off due to reasons for the financial welfare of the business and those employees
apply for unemployment benefits from the government in order to support themselves
financially after being let go by the company which they work for (Erasmus et al 2019).

Q.1.3) This occurs when an employee claims that the employer has not given him what he is
entitled to, this could be by the means of legislation or even by the means of the
employment contract not being followed as it should be. An example of this could be if an
employee is promised a certain amount at the end of the year as a bonus to their salary and
it is in the employment contract and that person does not receive the money due to the
employer not following what had been previously agreed upon for the employee (Erasmus et
al 2019).

Q.1.4) this is a business model which allows the business to make the best products and
services without taking the consumer’s wants and needs into consideration. This business
model uses aggressive sales tactics and many marketing promotions in order to be the base
of the business’s revenue (Erasmus et al 2019).

Q.1.5) The market price level is determined by the current price at which an asset or a
service can be sold or bought for. This is therefore determined by supply and demand. An
example of this can be seen in sanitizers being in high demand during the peak of covid and
the demand for it going down slightly as the pandemic is coming to an end (Erasmus et al
2019).

QUESTION 2:

Q.2.1) Human resource forecasting is the process of utilizing collected data from past events
in order to identify staffing needs that may appear in the future of the business. The human
resources department is in charge of human resource forecasting and when doing this they
predict staff needs based on data such as projected sales and the expected growth of the
business and what goals the company has set to achieve in a certain time frame (Erasmus et
al 2019). The human resources department of Proteco Oils would be able to analyse
organizational objectives in order to make a forecast for the demand of the service or good
which they are producing and use that to understand and predict the staff that they would
require and they can estimate the spaces in the staff and decide how they can solve thiose
issues and drop their labor costs and which area of their business would utilize more
employees in order to produce their products efficiently. They can monitor and control
whether or not their human resources plan is effective for the business and make sure that
their plan is resulting in an increase in the business’s total revenue(Erasmus et al 2019).

Q.2.2) Product differentiation is a strategy which businesses use in order to set themselves
apart from other businesses who are in the same market in order to make the consumers of
the product be more inclined to use their brand over the choice of an alternative(Erasmus et
al 2019). In the context of Pressed Purity product differentiation can be seen in the
strenuous processes which they use in order to manufacture their product and produce it in
shops, Pressed Purity also show product differentiation in that they use the fact that they
use 100% natural ingredients for their products and they are a genuinely Australian
company as well. Their name, ‘Pressed Purity’ also implies that they use no chemicals in the
processing of the raw crops into edible oils which is very rare and therefore an advantage to
their business as a whole(Erasmus et al 2019).

Q.2.3) A work – study method is a close observation from the business of the methods
currently used in order to produce the products and services which the business is selling.
This method is utilized in order to improve the efficiency in terms of resources and
machinery, to reduce costs that the business may bare and in order to avoid any
unnecessary movements and usage of the business’s employees and materials, this can also
set up the standard of performance that is expected from each segment of the business.
This method’s purpose is to conduct a controlled analysis of the current methods that the
business is utilizing in order to fulfill various tasks(Erasmus et al 2019). Proteco Oils would
have made use of two methods, these methods being, method study and work
measurement. A method study would have been conducted by observing the ways in which
their current production methods are operating. The business would have to create a
strategy in order to simplify this work and come up with a much more economical method
of fulfilling the task and in turn making the business more profitable and efficient. The work
measurement would be conducted in order to determine how long a task should take to be
completed. When the business utilizes these work study methods, the businesses
productivity increases overall and thus the costs of operations are more efficient and
therefore the total revenue that the business currently has increases(Erasmus et al 2019).

Q.2.4) Proteco Oil would have used the segment of the consumer market(Erasmus et al 2019).
This would be since this segment of the market consists of individuals or households
purchasing products which they can use for their own consumption. This can be seen in the
fact that Proteco Oil’s target market consists of people who want to enhance their cooking
at home and in order to do so they can use the products which Proteco Oil
produces(Erasmus et al 2019).. Proteco Oil would have used the following criteria in for
market segmentation, they identified the needs of the consumers in the market, they would
have grouped the needs which had been identified into homogeneous subgroups or
segments which have similar characteristics, they would have selected a target market, in
their case, women of the ages between 25 – 60+ and the company would focus it’s
marketing efforts on it’s resources and know-how and the business would have positioned
the products and services being offered within the selected segment or in Proteco Oil’s case,
segments as they do not only target women aged 25 – 60+ but also on men and women of
all ages who consider themselves to be home cooks.

Q.2.5) An operational process is the organizational method which a company uses in order
to get a task done. The operational process which Proteco Oil would use would be a
manufacturing operational process (Erasmus et al 2019). as they are making the oils from the
beginning and using their own machinery in order to produce the products which are put
into shops to be sold to their target market. The operational process of Proteco Oil is to
press the oil from fruit, nuts or seeds using machinery and producing cooking oils which
used no chemicals and 100% natural.
