TEST-1 (7th September 2022, FN)
B TECH II TIME: 1 Hr
SEMESTER III MARKS: 30

Instructions:
1. This question paper contains 02 pages.
2. Answer all the questions.
3. Every numerical answer must have the proper units next to it.

1. When a 230 𝑉 , 60 𝑊 light bulb is turned on, the initial current is 8 𝐴 . However, the
resistance of the bulb changes as it heats up to the maximum power rating (operating
conditions). Represent the light bulb by ideal circuit component for the “cold” and the
“operating” conditions. (4 marks)
2. The current varies as a function of time as shown below. (4 marks)

1 µ𝐹 capacitor upto 𝑡 = 3 𝑚𝑠. What is the voltage value at 𝑡 = 2 𝑚𝑠?

3. A 1-MΩ resistor is connected across a 500-µF capacitor initially charged to 100 V. How
long does it take for the voltage to drop to 14 V? (4 marks)

6. A low-pass filter with a 3-dB frequency of 100 Hz is used to filter a 90 Hz square wave
signal with amplitude 𝑉# . Sketch the rough output waveform, determine its frequency and
its amplitude. (4 marks)

7. An amplifier’s voltage transfer characteristics (VTC) can be mathematically expressed as

𝑣# = 10 − 5(𝑣$ − 2)! ;where 𝑣$ and 𝑣# are in volts. The above VTC applies for 2 ≤ 𝑣$ ≤
𝑣# + 2 and 𝑣# > 0.
(6 marks)
