Follow @ eriprettyo Human Hair vs Synithetic Hair Now obviously we gotta start with materials. Most hair extensions you'll see vary in price and quality. And the biggest jump in the price difference is whether you're wanting human. hair or synthetic hair. Human hair has the benefit of being able tobe colored, treated, and styled just like you would your own, hair. But for those reasons, human hairis also more expensive, Which brings me to synthetic hair. Synthetic hairis made from various man-made polymers and plastics- although it can also be made from natural polymers and cellulose as well. PVC, Polyester, ilk, and Silicone are common materials that are Used in synthetic hair. The upside is that synthetic hair can be VERY affordable! And ‘most synthetic hair on the market (aside from Halloween store wigs), does have a degree of heat protection to it Meaning it can be styled like human hair. Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions on how much heat can be applied to your specific hair extensions. The downside is that synthetic hair cannot be colored to match like human hair. Here are a few tips to keep your haircolor looking fresh and your hair feeling smooth! a - Follow sissadoesyours® Caring for. your, hair: 1)Try to wash less often and use a sulfate free shampoo. Over washing your hair not only strips the ols from your scalp, making your hair dry and frizzy, butit also pulls the color molecules out of the outer layer of your hair, which will fade your color faster. If you must wash your hair every day, try alternating with a cleansing cream ora co-wash every other wash, 2) Invest in a couple good masks.A protein mask will help keep your hair's structure strong, and a moisturizing mask will keep it soft and friz-ree. 3)Tutn down the heat on your hot tools! Heat sucks the color out cof your hair faster than washing it ever will! Your hot tools should never go above 380°H/193°c. Higher temps are used for professional treatments. Using a heat protectant with your tools is a must ~ithelps mitigate the damage caused by excessive heat. Be sure you use a dedicated heat protectant. Much love, Melissa oD ee ~*~ ‘What is it like being ina gyaru circle? Thank you so much for joining me today! Som going to jump right in. What's your story? How did Gyaransu' begin? And why did you decide to doa gal unit instead of a circle? The story of Gyaransu began while Alice, Marie, and Noémie were in another French gal unit called “Reborn”. Reborn wasn't very active so we decided to create our own gal circle. Afterwards, a few other friends ended up joining us. We realized that many gals and gyaru-o from other countries liked gyaru, too, and decided to open Gyaransu as a gal unit for people who can ‘speak Frenchor live in France and love Gyaru style. How often do you meet up? At the beginning of Gyaransu, ‘We met up once a month. Since we are a gal unit, it can be quite difficult to organise. We try to do some meets in Paris for people who can, then one or ‘two meets per year for everyone as a whole seeing as we're not all from France! We have members from France, Belgiurn, ‘Switzerland... One of our members is from Korea, but she lives in Paris. There are 8 of us now! (Once a month is amazing! And it's really good that you don't just focus on Paris but have 9 Yes, the most important thing when joining Gyaransu is to speak French so that we can communicate with each other. (And participate in one or two meets per year!) ‘And I see you do events as well as, panels. What was it lke planning for that? Yes, we try to participate in events as much as possible. Planning these kinds of events is very, very difficult (as you can imagine, we're a group but we're not from the same city) We must organize— who can be there, what items to bring for the stand, which members will do makeup. hair, nails. I's really difficult if we don't have enough members at exhibitions because we meet so many people who want to try gyaru But we try our best to do it! (They lough) For fashion shows, it's all about contact with Japanese brands via social ‘media and sometimes they don't speak English so negotiations cre in Japanese. How do you select your new members? Are there certain uidelines that members have to First, they must subscribe to our website and send us a picture. We contact the person and try to organise a few meetups with them, as most of our members need to meet them before they re accepted. We want all of Gyaransu to be friends, so it's very important that members meet the new gals before acceptance. They must like and have a basic gyaru style so that we can see their evolution. Even beginners can jin us. Gyaru evolves constantly so all people have a chance to join Gyaransu! ‘Where do you see 'Gyaransu' in the In the future? Well, we are all friends, and even within the next few years we will continue to speak to each other and share our memories together. | (Noemie) ‘would like to go to visit Belgium ‘and Switzerland with Gyaransu to visit our members Ethan, Keru, and Anais. A Gyaransu trip abroad ‘would be cool! ove the sound of that! Following the theme we interviewed our very own Ethan as well as Black Diamond -from 2000-'s Marchirin. In junior high, | really wanted gyaru friends so | “gyaruso. There were so many cute gals and mage: ‘models in the circle so being with them we would have our snaps token and | guess | gradually started to think that I didn’t want to lose. That might have made me want to be famous! 've always loved idols, but | never thought | would become one myself | think it’s the result of trial and error. Hmmm... Around 2012 was the best! The make as well as hair, fashion... everything from that time is perfect to me! My ultimate type! ° Hip hop or traditional japanese, | want to see different genres, 5 fuse with gyaru! Actually, what's a trend? Something that's popular now? | really love hip hop. Are there any changes with gyaru that you like or dislike? | think its lovely how many styles there are, how many different gyoru, it's ‘great era! Not getting stuck in current trends is what puts gyaru in the frontline! | think it’s ‘good to have many styles. It's number one to express yourself! However, | want everyone to know what kind of gals started gyaru, and what they looked like. People that call kuro gyaru “yamamba", and shiro gyarulgiris that just dye their hair and say they're gyaru, | can't really forgive. Learn properly what ayaruis! | would hate it if people forgot these things and gyaru died out. I want gyaru to remain in history like ninja and samurai have done in Japanese culture. In the Gaijin Gyaru community we have quite alot of LGBTQ+ gyaru/gyaru-o, do you think it's similar in Japan? That's right! I'm happy to have comrades! There's no fone in Japant | only know one person that knows of LGBT, but I haven't met them. Japan (Py, isn’t so open about these things so that might have something to do with it. ‘wonder why there's so many? Even if I'm not gyaru | think | am still me... but | can imagine Marcirin disappearing, Maybe when | become « grandma? lpm Lastly, what would you like to say to younger LGBTQ+ gyoru? How would you define your orientation? I know that there are so many terms and identities today. The genre has become too fluid!! Personally, lam attracted to men and women, so | consider myself as “bisexual!’. However, | fall in love with a personality and a soul rather than an identity. How old were you when you got into gyaru-o and what made you interested in it? f Ihave been attracted to Japanese fashion since | was very young and was into v-kei f (visual kei) style and other more extravagant styles during my school years. Growing up. | f wanted to have a more masculine side. Then when | discovered gyaru and gyaru-o in f 2010/2011, | immediately knew "This is it! | want to go in this direction!” f For me, it remains something that works. is. f expressive and trendy. Even if from the European point of view it remains very feminine/androgynous, for me it brings the ‘amount of masculinity that | was missing. | | started my gyaru-o style in the spring of 2011. What influences your style? Mainly Tokyo fashion magazines and fashion f influencers. When | started, it was the golden age, and the trend was very strong. Now | know what | like and di: , what is good for me and what is not. But | still ike to test and f discover and sometimes | make mistakes. My actual influence is Men's Knuckle, a +H men’s fashion magazine. Also | like host-kei and trends. Sometimes | take some tips from Korean fashion as well. Is there anything that you like or dislike about how gyaru-o has changed in recent years? The main point is that the style is dying for men! There's still the hosts and the artists (mainly in music). The gyaru-o as we knew them in 2010, have become very rare, the style has become very sober, Americanized. Many of my favorite brands have disappeared and too few remain, What's your favourite era of fashion? vw» Iwill say 2010-2015! In Japan, that was = huge! And that was a great era for the Gaijin community too. Are there any trends you would like to see? The "couple outfit" trend! | think it's so cute! The more playful, less serious styles like omekaji, surf-kei. It's not always the best on me, but | like to see it! And | really want to see more boys in our gaijin community! It seems like gyaru/gyaru-o attracts a lot of members of the LGBTQ+ community. Why do you think that is? Marginal people appreciate marginal styles. | think it goes hand in hand. Do you think you'll ever stop being gyaru-0? Hard to say what's in store for tomorrow. | have calmed down already. And | think when I get too old | won't be able to take on the whole style. | will probably always have a bond with the trends, the clothes unless | gain too much weight). Come back to me in 5-10 years and we will talk about it again! What would you like to say to younger LGBTQ+ gyaru-0? Hey boy, don't worry about what others think! Do what you want, and what you fee! good about. There will always be someone to help you if you ask (kindly). Dare! Try it! And enjoy every moment by sharing your passions and being proud of what you are! Stepping into the world of gal can be ‘overwhelming! Especially if you're newer to gyaru and aren't sure what style suits you. Instead of spending $60+ on every Diamond Lash style ‘out there. consider turning to your current lash collection ‘or some cheaper off-brand lashes to start out! Many off-brand lashes don’t quite fit gyaru, but you can alter them to better suit the style you're going for. Asmaler pow. with 0 sharp tip ‘She Mokeup works best! Eyelash Curler $1 In this tutorial, Lata will show you just how to do that! aly Stacking lashes is easy! Take one lash and put some glue along its base along the band line. Wait a litte bit for the glue to get tacky, then take another lash and put it on top of the first. ‘Squeeze them together for a few seconds for them to dray and you're done! Now that your lashes are stacked, it's time to begin styling, You can pick lashes out of a magazine to replicate or just wing it! Gyaru lashes typically have larger spaces than natural lashes to create a "spiky" look. if you're drawing inspiration from a pic, pay attention to how many spikes they have. It's best to start cutting from the middle and ‘work your way outward. If there is an even ‘amount of spikes, you'll want to make your first cut directly in the center. f there is an odd ‘amount of spikes, you'll want to make off-center cuts so the spike is in the middle. Cutting the second band is trickier because you need to match it to your first one, Try to focus ‘on how many spikes there are. If you make ‘your first cut directly in the center of an 8 spike lash, you'll need to make 4 spikes on each side, Since you've cut even gaps in the first lash, try to create four even lashes on each side! Put your main lashes on like you normally ‘would, pushing them up as they dry. After they've dried, curl them. It's important that the center of your lashes stand up more than the outer comer, so try to focus your curling on the middle part! ‘Try your best to cut even gaps! Always cut parallel to the lashes and not across them. Rather than trying to cut triangles out of the lashes, focus on cutting straight lines until there's a noticeable gap. ily, aia hil Many gyaru brand lashes have long bands to extend the eye. Using regular lashes, you'll most likely have to extend the lash yourself. Take a single lash band and cut an even number of spikes into it. Cut the band in halt. If you want the extension to be shorter, cut it shorter from the center. oa Now you can add your extended lashes. Make sure the edge of them overlaps your main lashes. Push these lashes downward as they dry, then you're done! Joining +he Gal Community can be quite overwhelming as a beginner.
