Edgar Allan Poe is an American author famous for his tales of
mystery and made a big contribution in the science fiction genre. He
was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston Massachusetts. He became
an orphan before he was three and was taken‐cared of by John and
Frances Alan in Richmond, Virginia.
Some of his well‐known tales are “The Balloon Hoax”, “The
Murders in The Rue Morgue” and many others. He also wrote poems
such as “The Raven” and “The Haunted Palace”. His poems, fables
and tales appeals to the readers emotions and usually gains criticisms because of its theme and
concept.
Allen Poe died on October 7, 1849 due to complications brought about by alcoholism.
