1)Availability of Food.
=> Food Availability relates to the supply of food
through production,distribution,and exchange.
=> Food Production is determined by a variety
of factors including land ownership and use,soil
Management,crop selection etc
=> Food Distribution involves the
storage,processing,transport,packaging and=> Food Distribution involves the
storage,processing,transport,packaging and
marketing of food
=> Food exchange requires efficient trading systems
and market institutions,which can affect food security
2)Access to Food
=> There are two distinct types of access to food.
They are:
=> Direct Access,in which a household produces food
using human and material resources,and
=> Economic Access,in which a household purchases
food produced elsewhere.
=> Access to food is primarily a matter, of purchasing
power and is therefore closely linked with the
capabilities and employment opportunities to earn.
Opportunities and capabilities in turn are related to
one's access to assets and education.
3)Utilization of food
=> The next pillar of food security is food
utilization,which refers to the metabolism of food by
individuals.
=> To achieve food security the food ingested must be
safe and must be enough to meet the physiological
requirements of each individual.

food in the community and household.
4)Stability of Food
=> The temporal determinant of food security refers
to stability,which affects all the 3 physical assignment
which have been cited above.
=> Food stability refers to the ability to obtain food
overtime.
=> To be food secure,a populationjhousehold or
individual must have access to adequate food at all
times.
=> They should not risk losing access to food as a
consequence of sudden shocks (e.g. an economic or
climatic crisis such as drought result in crop failure
and decreased food availablility)or cyclical events
(e.g. seasonal food insecurity).
