One-Page Setting: The Forest of Glass

I was blown away by the love for my first One-Page Setting: The Iron Dunes. so I've been working on
another one in my spare time. These one page settings continue to be a ton of fun to read and create.
Thanks again to u/Dan_Felder for the original format.

You have my permission to use any parts of this in your own games. Like the previous submission using
this format, this is light on details so each DM can tailor it how they wish.

Region Name

The Forest of Glass

The Big Idea

Snow powders the sharp branches of the glittering trees. Nothings is quite as it seems, icicles may well
be razor shards, the ugliest of monsters may well be friendly, and that which seems beautiful or kind is
likely to lure you to your death.

The Tone

A snowy glittering and sometimes surreal fairytale. Its breathtaking crystalline beauty hides many
dangers. Deception, illusions and trickery are everywhere.

Common Inhabitants

Fae of the Winter Court, Animated glass animals, Will-o-Wisps, Illusions, Foxfolk.

Some Characters
Daro, Fae lord of Mab: An intelligent high ranking Fae of the winter court, he hosts grand feasts and
other events showering those who attend with gifts. However beware of the Fae's twisted etiquette.
Utter the same name twice, however, and you will cause great offense.

The Sapphire Doe: This intelligent blue deer will lead travelers to treasure or danger depending on its
whimsy.

Ava, the Pure: A snobby swanbreed avian obsessed by beauty. She detests the ugly or impure. She will
greatly reward those that bring her items of great splendor.

The Aberrants: Natives to the Glass Forest, these incredibly ugly slug like people are very friendly but
hunted and detested by most other inhabitants.

Some Rumors

An enchanted spear lies embedded in the forest’s center. It is surrounded by hot springs of molten glass.
Beware of geysers.

The white furred Foxfolk can never tell the truth. They long for someone to break this curse but nobody
trusts them.

A courtyard of perfect humanoid glass sculptures is home to a rare type of Medusa. Its obsidian eyes are
worth a small fortune.

It’s said you can travel to any other forest in the world (or beyond.) on the Fae paths, if only you could
find a guide.

Every nearby creek and stream seem to flow uphill towards somewhere. As you get nearer a loud
slurping noise can be heard in the distance.

Idea Fuel

Many of the encounters in The Forest of Glass should tend towards riddles, illusions or other puzzles
more than combat encounters. If you do need combat encounters try and tie in ambushes, trickery or
traps that will keep players from taking things for granted. You can also modify the tone of the forest to
be more psychedelic, more spooky forest, or more strange but mostly friendly like alice in wonderland.
