ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE


PROJECT
“CELEBRATIONS AROUND THE WORLD”

Queridos alumnos este proyecto les


permitirá conocer un poco más sobre
celebraciones y festividades alrededor del
mundo. Se espera que logren recolectar
información específica narrada en
oraciones simples y sencillas en la segunda
lengua. Deben conformar grupos no mayor a
cuatro integrantes, seleccionar una
festividad o celebración y desarrollarla.
Escribir un texto corto y adjuntar fotos o
videos referidos a la misma.
Dicha actividad tiene carácter
OBLIGATORIO. La misma será tomada como
evaluación del trimestre.
A mi regreso profundizaremos su trabajo
realizando posters, maquetas, videos, etc.
Es importante que mediante sorteo
realicen la selección ya que todas deben
ser desarrolladas.

 Hanukkah – Jewish

Hanukkah is the Jewish Festival of Lights. The festival


lasts for eight nights .

 Kwanzaa – African American

Kwanzaa is a seven day celebration of African-


American culture that starts on December 26th each
year.

 Diwali – India

Diwali is the Indian festival of lights, one of the most


important holidays of the year.

 St Lucia Day – Europe

St Lucia Day is held on December 13th in the


European countries of Sweden, Denmark, Norway and
Finland. It is a celebration of light in the darkest time of
the year in these countries.

 Chinese New Year – Asia

Chinese New Year is the festival that celebrates the


beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese
lunar calendar.

 Japanese New Year – Asia

The Japanese celebrate Shogatsu (Japanese New


Year) by eating delicious food such as Mochi, a
dumpling made from rice.
 St Patrick's- Ireland
St Patrick's Day on 17th March is the biggest day in
Ireland 's cultural calendar and a national holiday with
a host of events throughout Ireland in celebration of
the nation's patron saint.

 Halloween
Halloween's origins can be traced back to the
ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain, which was
held on November 1 in contemporary calendars. It was
believed that on that day, the souls of the dead
returned to their homes.

 Thanksgiving – USA AND CANADA


Thanksgiving is celebrated as a means of giving
thanks for family, friends, food, health and other
positivities.

 Christmas´day
Christmas comes every year on 25 December and is a
Christian holiday that commemorates the birth of
Jesus Christ.

 New year´s Eve


The New Year is all about fresh starts and looking
towards the future with optimism, so New Year's Eve
can signal the end of a chapter and the beginning of a
new one.
