Contemporary World deals with the nature of the global community, the present global market; political tends of the world as well as the economic developments
of the present era. It further includes the appreciation of practical, intellectual, and the applicability of the concepts regarding the modernity of society in daily life. The
course begins with the views and the nature of the concepts behind the theory of globalization as well as the application of the ideas as being emphasized in this so-
Course Description called modern world; furthermore, students are encouraged to go beyond the conventional understanding of modernity in this present time. The course also covers
the role of religion in the global society, the rationale behind the influx of migration in many parts of the world especially in the European countries and its impacts to
the economy and social conditions of the world. The course then proceeds to theories and concepts that are related to the present global state of affairs in which these
philosophies can provide understanding in dealing with the various aspects of present-day living, such as managing one’s daily activities, traveling and working in
foreign lands and making social choices. These aspects will provide further opportunities for actual undertakings in broad range of exercises that bring out the various
dimensions of social perspectives as a way of knowing, and to test the students’ comprehension and capacity as well as ability. (CMO No. 20, series of 2013).
