Social Change
Refers to variation or modification in
the patterns of social organization,
of subgroups within a society, or of
the entire society itself.
Causes of Social Change
• invention – a new combination or a new use of
existing knowledge.
• Discovery-takes place when people recognize
existing elements of the world they had not
noticed before
• Diffusion- refers to spread of culture traits
from one group to another.

Includes all categories and change in the
direction of open, participatory, and
accountability politics. It is the change that
occurs in the realm of civil and political
societies and in the structure of relations
