Summary: A beautiful story about an old woman who receives an unexpected reward for
her kindness.

a. Who is referred to ‘as one’?
Ans. It is referred to Old Molly’s garden.
b. How was the ‘one’ different from all the others?
Ans. Molly’s garden was different from others as the other gardens in the row were very
pretty and neat.
2. ‘So all the snails and slugs and caterpillars made their way to Old molly’s garden.
Why did they do so?
Ans. Old Molly’s neighbors didn’t allow snails and slugs in their garden and they hated
caterpillars. They used the pesticides in their garden so all the snails, and caterpillars made
their way to Old Molly’s garden.
3. How do we know that Molly’s neighbors were sure that they would get the prize?
Ans. Molly’s neighbors were sure that they would get the prize as they had already started
planning about what to do with the prize and where to keep the big silver cup. Gordon
wanted to fill it with roses from her garden, Mr. Bennett wanted to display it in the window
while Mr. and Mrs. Bunce planned to keep it on different sides of their bed each week.
4 What shows that the Mayor was fond of Insects?
Ans. The Mayor was found of insects as the bonnet of his car was painted to look like a
large bumblebee. His waistcoat was embroidered with blue flies, and from his ear hung an
earring shaped like a golden ant.
5. “What a magnificent sight!”
a. Who said this?
Ans. The Mayor of Bunting said this.
b. What was the magnificent sight?
Ans. The Old Molly’s garden was the magnificent sight as the caterpillars in Molly’s garden
had turned into colourful butterflies. The slugs and snails had cleaned the yard outside
and Molly’s house shone like shining silver. White fluffy dove and colourful birds chirped
and cooed on the roof.
