A 45 years old man with a family history of

cardiovascular disease, after a routine blood pressure


check had a blood pressure of 180/110. Several
repeated BP checks con rmed these pressures. No
cause was found for the hypertension although the
patient smoked 40 cigarettes a day and was considered
to be obese.
