3 a) High sodium intake can raise the risk of high blood pressure which can cause various
heart diseases and strokes.

b) When sodium intake is lessened the blood pressure of most people lowers over the
course of a few weeks. In countries where sodium is not consumed as much, people do not
experience high blood pressure. Reducing sodium intake causes lower blood pressure
especially amongst people with hypertension.

c) Most processed and restaurant foods nowadays have a lot of sodium in it making it very
difficult to avoid unless one specifically tries to buy low sodium alternatives.

d) We consume most of our sodium in the form of sodium chloride or table salt.

4. Grill, bake, and poach food instead of frying or roasting it. Try to eat foods with less fat like
lean cuts of meat, fruits and vegetables. Snack less on high fat foods.
