Step 1 MFR & MPN Pair identification

 If the Manufacture name & Part Number pair is already Available in live items. Don’t
Create this item. Proceed with the already available item

Step 2 Classification
 In this stage, a new item needs to be classified based on the available Noun Modifier
list provided in the excel sheet below
 Classify the item with help of the available Noun Modifier list into most relevant
Class.

For Example

Sample Description
POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE (500G PER BOTTLE)

Use keywords from the description and try to identify the material. From the
" Noun Modifier list " Sheet try to identify the suitable Noun Modifier for the description.

 In the above description, we can identify the noun as HYDROXIDE, so we filter this
item in the Noun Modifier list and classify this item as HYDROXIDE as present in the
list to match our Description


Similarly filter HYDROXIDE in category (Column A) in Datasheet Tab.

 Columns A            - Category (Noun, Modifiers)

 Column B                     - Attribute Name
 Column C                     - Attribute id
 Columns D to G           - Prefix and Suffix (identifier) information as they would appear
in Short and Long descriptions along with corresponding
attribute values
 Column H                    - Criticality flag to define whether the attribute is Critical or
Non-Critical
 Column I                    - Sequence in which the attribute Value will appear in
Harmonized Descriptions
 Step 4 Attribute Extraction
 Attribute Extraction means extracting the values from description to attributes

Extraction needs to be done wherein values need to be extracted from the description to the
attribute present based on their Criticality to maintain data quality.
Hydroxide Datasheet as shown below, where potassium is captured in Type, Similarly 500g per
bottle in Quantity/weight/volume

 Step 5 Data Normalization
 In this step, we need to Normalize the values captured from the input descriptions in
the attributes of the newly created item.

Below are a few rules, we must follow while normalizing the value, this helps in having standard
values when the final Description is generated.

 Step 6 Description Generation
 With help of Normalized values, we can generate a new standardized description.
 Therefore, in order to do so we need to take the standardized values from the
datasheets and consider the Sequence, Suffix, Prefix & Abbreviations to Generate a
new Description.
