9. Personal Statement
Provide a statement on your reasons for applying for the Junior Leaders Course, how you hope to
use the skills gained on the course and your future ambitions.
My reasoning for why I am applying to the Junior Leaders Course is to push myself further than I
ever have before, both physically, mentally and in terms of discipline. Another reason is to prove not
only to myself and others that I can be a top cadet achieving some of the highest merits a cadet can
achieve that being best cadet, lord lieutenant’s cadet and the maroon lanyard while being recognised
by the corps by completing the Junior Leaders Course. Another reason for why I am applying to the
Junior Leaders Course is because I am surrounded by friends who have completed the Junior
leaders Course and are now QJLs which pushes me even harder to want to be a part of this
prestigious course, these friends have constantly pushed me and pressed me to go onto applying for
this course and have filled me with an inextinguishable passion for completing this course. The final
reason for why I am applying for JL is to gain friendships and connections from all over the UK.
Completing JL will fuel my future ambitions of becoming a Field craft instructor and skill at arms
instructor within the corps and will help during any sort of employment opportunities I may face in all
aspects and industries.
Once completed send the form by email as a Word document to your Squadron Commander.
