Gamelan

The UNESCO patented gamelan as one of Indonesia’s Intangible Cultura Heritages. It called as
the traditional ensemble music. Gamelan refers to the tradition Indonesian percussion orchestra and to
the set of musical instruments used.

Gamelan is typically includes xylophones, gongs, gong-chimes, drums, cymbals, string


instruments and bamboo flutes. There are precise rules and techniques regarding tuning, layout,
rhythmic and metric patterns and performance.. When the melody is played by multiple instruments, it
will form a single rhythm. That’s why the gamelan always memorable and as a way of establishing a
connection between humans and the universe.

Gamelan is played by men, women, and children of all ages. It is performed in religious rituals,
ceremonies, traditional theatre, festivals and concerts. It has been found in the relief sculptures of the
eighth-century Borobudur temple. An important source of national pride, gamelan continues to be
played from generation to generation through informal and formal education.

One time, I went camping with my classmates in the mountain which are located in a village. We
arrived in a nearby village. Then, we proceeded on foot to the mountains for approximately 8 hours to
reach the camp point. During the climb, one of my friends

come back to the mountains,” shouted the villagers. My friends and I was confused and decided to leave
