Some songs that we play have different strumming styles to


them, so we need to make sure that we are used to playing
different strumming patterns. Here are 3 more to practice this
week. Start off slowly, and then build them up.

Play with an Em

Remember to play only one string at a time and one note at a time! It is
so important to stretch your fingers and to exercise them, as it means
that you will get stronger and be able to fret the guitar better all the time.

The correct way to play an F chord is shown above. But this is a very difficult chord to play to
start with, as although you already know how to play an E chord, it is a chord called a barre
chord, and these are difficult to play to start with.

SO, instead this is the best way to play the chord is as shown below. Using your first finger
you need to put your finger on the top two strings (the B and the E). Your second finger needs
to go in the second fret and the third string, whilst your third finger needs to go on the third
fret and the fourth string.

This is a tricky chord and will take some practice. Take your fingers off the strings and place
them back on, so that your fingers can find their place easier.

HOMEWORK

PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!

1. Practice G, C, D, Em, E and A chords. Practice moving between them.

2. Exercise your fingers so that they become more comfortable on the fret-
board.

3.Practice your strokes, try out the new ones and see how you get on. They
will take more practice and patience.

4.. Stretch your fingers, its important that they are looked after!

5. ENJOY YOURSELF!!!!
