Introduction:

Samsung products stand out for the quality and innovation of the brand
since its inception in 1938 in South Korea. Its products ranging from
telephones to household appliances have even managed to be leaders of
their competition due to their elegant designs, intuitive interfaces, but above
all, the focus that is given to the user when designing the products.

Samsung, apart from all of the aforementioned, invests large amounts of

money in technology development and product innovation. This they do to
always see themselves ahead of their competition in all the different
products they handle.

The BCG (Boston Consulting Groups) Matrix is a chart that organizes a

business's products into rate of return and relative market share. Used for
business management analysis and marketing.

The star product
The flagship product is a product with high growth and
high market share, so they are usually products that have
just been launched or are in a market in a growth phase.
When we think of a star product, we will also be directing
our strategies towards greater investment so that they
reach an optimal level of consolidation in the market. In
other words, they are products that generate liquidity but
also require a greater investment. They are products with interesting
growth prospects. If we take into account the life cycle of the flagship
product, we will say that it is a product in its growth phase.

Characteristics:
● Are those products that operate in high-growth industries
● Are those with a high market share

We can identify the star product, since it is the one that is selling a lot in a
growing market, that is, it has an ascending sales line. Depending on the
margin: it must be taken into account that the product that sells the most
does not have to be the one that reports the most benefits, nor the most
important in our portfolio.

Cow Product

The cow product or dairy cow product is called

this way because they are those products that,
requiring a minimum investment, generate great
liquidity. These are generally the products that
have been on the market for some time and are
more consolidated. Sometimes it can coincide
with your hero product or best seller product.
The cow product is in the maturity phase of its
life cycle.

● This product has a low growth in the market.
● This product stands out for its stable and constant flow of money.

Question Marks

A question mark represents a business unit with a relatively low market

share in an industry with a high growth rate. To maintain or increase market
share, large amounts of cash are required. The business must be
evaluated to determine if it is viable. New goods and services with good
commercial prospects are often question marks. The best strategy is
difficult to determine.

When the firm believes it has a dominant market share, it may adopt an
expansion strategy; otherwise, it may cut costs. When a company enters a
high-growth market, which already has a large market share, it is usually a
question mark. In the absence of investment, question marks are likely to
become dogs, while in the presence of large investments, they may
become stars.

•Previous stars often become question marks.

can be used to develop products with better prospects,
such as question marks and stars.

Dogs (or Pets)

A dog represents a business with a weak market share

in a low-growth market. Dogs do not produce cash and
do not require huge quantities. Due to their low market
share, these companies face cost disadvantages. The

reason for the reduction is that these companies can only gain market
share at the expense of their competitors/rivals.

Due to high costs, low quality, insufficient marketing, etc., these companies
have weak market shares. If the prospect of gaining market share is low, a
dog should be liquidated unless it has some other strategic objective. The
number of dogs within an organization should be kept to a minimum.

•Dogs are products in a low-growth market with a low share.

•Products in decline phases of their lifecycles.

Advantages and Disadvantages

These are some of the advantages that Samsung has over its products and
what it can offer to all its customers.

 ● Brand reliability: This is perhaps the most important point, since,
being a worldwide known brand, and in the top 3 in sales, it is
interesting to know that we have the backing of a brand that knows
what it does. It is very difficult for them to bring out a product that
does not work and risk criticism and discrediting of the brand.
● Spare parts: A more interesting aspect is to know that, no matter
where you are in the world, it is very easy to find their spare parts.
Unlike Apple, which for its spare parts you must go to an official
agent, in this brand you can go to any technical service and, in
addition, depending on the problem you can even use more generic
components.
● Abundance of model series: One of the great advantages is the
large number of cell phone models offered by Samsung. And it has
several series, such as the Note, S, A, J and many others. It offers
the largest number of designs in their phones, as well as prices, to
adjust as much as possible to the resources, tastes and needs of the
consumer.
● The technical service: The technical service of this brand is quite
good because if we are within the warranty repairs are free and work
times are too short for the delivery of the device fixed, but if we are
out of warranty arrangements such as changing the screen or any
part are cheap to perform on their own, considering that only original
spare parts are used.
● Updates: Operating system or Software updates are quite often,
although if you don't have any updates from Samsung you can
perform from Sammobile yourself for free.
● Camera: Advanced image processing technology, clear image
quality, versatile photography modes, high-resolution video recording
capabilities and an intuitive user interface for a more comfortable
photography and videography experience.

Next we have some disadvantages of Samsung that can appear in its

● Battery Life: one of the disadvantages of Samsung phones is that
the battery life is not quite as good as possible. That being said,
smartphone companies have been doing a lot to improve battery life
and make it better. Higher resolution, HD picture quality, processing
speed, refresh rate, etc., may sound perfect for users, but that also
strains your phone batter. Ultimately, your Samsung phone will drain
faster.
● Expensive: One of the Disadvantages of Samsung Phones is that
they are expensive. The cost issues have sprouted many competitors
of Samsung such as Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo offering similar or better
makes of smartphones to users. Samsung is also not as popular with
many people because many view them as outdated phones.
● Bulky and clunky: Samsung phones are bulky and clunky, which is
a major drawback for some users. Because of this form factor, they
are not that comfortable to carry samsung phones in pocket or
handbag, unlike iPhone.
● Fragile screens: Many criticize that the screens are too fragile at the
first fall these are damaged, so it is true because many phones come
without the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass which makes them
much more delicate is why Samsung recommends having a sheet of
glass on the screens that do not come with this protection.
● Overconfidence:While reliability is an advantage, sometimes there is
an abuse of it. When trying to expand to the largest number of
consumers, they offer products that do not meet the requirements to
last for years to come and become obsolete, or with very low-end
features.
● Constructions Materials: Users report that some construction
materials may feel less premium than other devices of other brands

Conclusion:

To conclude, we can realize that Samsung, thanks to its years of

experience, has managed to earn the trust of its customers thanks to
the excellent satisfaction they give to their customers. Its consolidated
international brand only makes it easier to expand it and new clients
around the world

By combining innovation, design, and quality in the technology

industry that Samsung invests in its development, it lets us know that
the brand manages to adapt to the demand of the market and its
customers, apart from making them pioneers and always leaders in
sales. of many of its products by comparing them against the
competition.

Regarding the BCG quadrant, cell phones and tablets were classified
as having the highest growth and market growth. Smartwatches and
computers as a high growth product but little market growth.
Appliances like little growth but big market growth. Finally digital
cameras with little growth and market growth.
