Samsung products stand out for the quality and innovation of the brand
since its inception in 1938 in South Korea. Its products ranging from
telephones to household appliances have even managed to be leaders of
their competition due to their elegant designs, intuitive interfaces, but above
all, the focus that is given to the user when designing the products.
Characteristics:
● Are those products that operate in high-growth industries
● Are those with a high market share
We can identify the star product, since it is the one that is selling a lot in a
growing market, that is, it has an ascending sales line. Depending on the
margin: it must be taken into account that the product that sells the most
does not have to be the one that reports the most benefits, nor the most
important in our portfolio.

Question Marks
When the firm believes it has a dominant market share, it may adopt an
expansion strategy; otherwise, it may cut costs. When a company enters a
high-growth market, which already has a large market share, it is usually a
question mark. In the absence of investment, question marks are likely to
become dogs, while in the presence of large investments, they may
become stars.
Due to high costs, low quality, insufficient marketing, etc., these companies
have weak market shares. If the prospect of gaining market share is low, a
dog should be liquidated unless it has some other strategic objective. The
number of dogs within an organization should be kept to a minimum.
These are some of the advantages that Samsung has over its products and
what it can offer to all its customers.
Regarding the BCG quadrant, cell phones and tablets were classified
as having the highest growth and market growth. Smartwatches and
computers as a high growth product but little market growth.
Appliances like little growth but big market growth. Finally digital
cameras with little growth and market growth.
