Dear Learners

understand, analyse, evaluate, interpret and innovate various real life situations that they require
to face in the world outside the classrooms or an environment beyond their schools and homes,
CBSE introduced AL(Art Integrated Learning).AL strengthens the linkages between education
and culture.

 Last date of submission is 6th September, 2023.
 The Art Integrated Project (AIP) is designed to help you out in strengthening the
concepts.
 The following activities must be done on A4 Sheets
 YOU MAY ATTEMPT ANYONE OF THE ACTIVITIES MENTIONED.

BASED ON ‘THE ENEMY’ BY PEARL S BUCK –VISTAS(SUPPLEMETARY TEXT)

Activity I- (INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH-Integration of Media with Literature)

INSTRUCTION:
Read:‘The Enemy’ from Vistas
Watch: ‘Saving Private Ryan’ by Stephen Spielberg (requires parental guidance as the
movie has graphic sequences of war).

a) Comparative analysis on the theme of tragedy and moral struggle as presented in The Enemy by
Pearl.S. Buck (Vistas-Grade 12 Supplementary Reader) and Saving Private Ryan, a theatrical
masterpiece by Stephen Spielberg. Compare and contrast how has the theme of moral struggle
been presented through the characters of Dr.Sadao and Captain Miller .Comparative analysis
should be presented graphically.(Sample infographics given below).
b) Create the story board of ‘The Enemy’ using storyboardthat / pixton /canva and trace
the plot structure through a plot graph.

Activity II CREATIVE EXPRESSION
The setting of both the ‘The Enemy’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan’ is World War II. Both the movie
and the story present the journey of the major and minor characters as they experience many
nightmare-like events, such as horrific physical injuries and emotional damage, which most
people cannot even fathom.
Based on your reading of the text and the movie
a) Draft a script for a theatrical performance. The plot must focus on events that take
place during or after a war, or have characters that have been greatly affected by
war (400-500 words).Design a poster for the theatrical release (digital).The poster
must convey your message.
